Abstract This paper analyses the relationship between air pollution and tourism demand in Beijing. The study method is based on a gravity model, which quality variables are incorporated into model of demand. results obtained show that has negative influence flows this effect more pronounced for inbound than domestic tourism. findings also simple index such as classification good bad air‐quality days representation factors taken account by tourists their travel decision.

The potential benefit of open access (OA) in relation to citation impact has been discussed the literature depth. methodology used test OA citation advantage includes comparing OA vs. non-OA journal factors and citations versus articles published same journals. However, one problem with many studies is that they are small -restricted a discipline or set journals-. Moreover, conclusions not entirely consistent among research areas and 'early view' 'selection bias' have been suggested as...
Experiencing the context of a rural environment is fundamental aspect travel. In order to estimate quantitative influences environment, this paper proposes proxy rurality through two indicators: isolation and remoteness. The estimation hedonic pricing model with use both Geographic Information Systems spatial econometrics allows obtaining specific influence these factors on lodging room prices. methodology applied tourist destinations similar characteristics from Eastern (Taiwan) Western...
Abstract The geographical characteristics of the site where a rural house is located determine its tourist affluence. By using hedonic prices model, this paper estimates influence some spatial and environmental variables in rental houses Gran Canaria, Spain. Geographic information systems (GIS) data are used to measure attributes associated with house, such as land use nearby population density. Other factors traditionally included models also analysed, structural distance points interest....
We study the bibliometric or formal aspects influencing citations. In particular, we verify existence otherwise of which displayed significant differences between group top 1% most cited articles according to their field and year publication (highly articles) remaining articles. This may allow scientific journals have evidence when writing submission rules for authors in order maximize impact published did a large-scale analysis around 10,000 articles, from period 2007-2016. A transversal...
This work analyses the forces that drive conversion of non-hotel tourist accommodation into residential use. For this purpose, a land use change model considers spatial autocorrelation is proposed and applied to area Maspalomas, in Gran Canaria, Spain, which has suffered an extraordinary process residentialization last decade. The empirical estimates probability resort (apartments/bungalows) located closes its activity within prefixed time period. Results show state neighbouring resorts...
This paper contributes to the empirical knowledge of determinants smoking initiation in adolescents. The instrument we used was a structural equation model, which is powerful tool analyze causal relationships nonexperimental studies. We school-based sample 1198 teenagers from Spain. measured attitude adolescents towards tobacco. Attitudes and status are related. become more favorable smoking, as experimentation with cigarettes progresses pupils older. Teenagers who have tried at least one...

The environmental characteristics compound one of the main attractions tourism developed in rural areas. In this line, paper seeks to identify most relevant attributes valued by market La Gomera Island, Spain. geographic peculiarities (climate and landscape) island make it an exceptional case study analyse role factors tourism. A hedonic price model has been estimated obtain a quantitative measure relative weight house rental price. Geographical Information System (GIS) Spatial Econometric...
(1) Background: This work analyzes socioeconomic equity in bike-sharing systems. Specifically, we study the effect of income on bike use an innovative way by analyzing frequency routes connecting areas with different mean incomes. (2) Methods: We Social Network Analysis tools to estimate probability connection between two stations depending and controlling for other predictors. The method was applied a system located city Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. (3) Results: Stations lower-income...

We conducted a large-scale analysis of around 10,000 scientific articles, from the period 2007-2016, to study bibliometric or formal aspects influencing citations. A transversal was disaggregating articles into more than one hundred areas and two groups, experimental control, each with random sample five thousand documents. The group comprised top 1% most cited in field year publication (highly articles), control remaining Journal Citation Reports (science social science citation indexes Web...
