Abstract In March 2020, the British Society of Thoracic Imaging (BSTI) introduced a reporting guidance for COVID-19 detection to streamline standardised and enhance agreement between radiologists. However, most current DL methods do not conform this guidance. This study introduces multi-class deep learning (DL) model identify BSTI categories within CT volumes, classified as ‘Classic’, ‘Probable’, ‘Indeterminate’, or ‘Non-COVID’. A total 56 pseudoanonymised images were collected from patients...

A handheld, high-resolution small field of view (SFOV) pinhole gamma camera has been characterised using a new set protocols adapted from standards previously developed for large (LFOV) systems. Parameters investigated include intrinsic and extrinsic spatial resolution, linearity, uniformity, sensitivity, count rate capability energy resolution. Camera characteristics are compared to some clinical LFOV cameras also other SFOV in development.

The field of radiology imaging has experienced a remarkable increase in using deep learning (DL) algorithms to support diagnostic and treatment decisions. This rise led the development Explainable AI (XAI) system improve transparency trust complex DL methods. However, XAI systems face challenges gaining acceptance within healthcare sector, mainly due technical hurdles utilizing these practice lack human-centered evaluation/validation. In this study, we focus on visual applied DL-enabled...

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has been a great challenge to healthcare systems worldwide. It highlighted the need for robust predictive models which can be readily deployed uncover heterogeneities in disease course, aid decision-making and prioritise treatment. We adapted an unsupervised data-driven model—SuStaIn, utilised short-term infectious like COVID-19, based on 11 commonly recorded clinical measures. used 1344 patients from National Chest Imaging Database (NCCID), hospitalised RT-PCR...

A novel small field of view Hybrid Gamma Camera (HGC) has been developed to facilitate the process localizing radiopharmaceutical uptake during surgical procedures. The HGC is a scintillator-based detector consisting an electron multiplying charge-coupled device coupled columnar scintillator (CsI[Tl]). This enables fusion scintigraphic and optical images offering new possibilities for assisting clinicians surgeons in localising site number technology also offers bedside imaging organs...
