This paper outlines the commissioning of Varian (VMS, Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA) Universal Interstitial Cylinder (UIC) applicator set for Ir-192 HDR brachytherapy. The UIC was commissioned use with CT and MRI a custom phantom designed to avoid introduction water-like materials into needle guide tracks.
