We present new evidence for AGN feedback in a subset of 69 quenched low-mass galaxies ($M_{\star} \lesssim 5\times10^{9}$ M$_{\odot}$, $M_{\rm{r}} > -19$) selected from the first two years SDSS-IV MaNGA survey. The majority (85 per cent) these appear to reside group environment. find 6 our sample that have an active is preventing on-going star-formation; this time such mechanism has been observed mass range. Interestingly, five six ionised gas component kinematically offset their stellar...

We present a new photometric calibration of the WFC3-UVIS and WFC3-IR detectors based on observations collected from 2009 to 2020 for four white dwarfs, namely GRW+70~5824, GD~153, GD~71, G191B2B, G-type star, P330E. These calibrations include recent updates Hubble Space Telescope primary standard dwarf models reference flux Vega. Time-dependent inverse sensitivities two chips, UVIS1 UVIS2, were calculated all 42 full-frame filters, after accounting temporal changes in observed count rates...

Abstract We present the results of deep Hubble Space Telescope photometry dwarf galaxy DDO 68-C, proposed as possibly associated with isolated peculiar 68. The new data resolve for first time stars 68-C down to well below tip red giant branch (RGB), revealing a low-mass ( M ⋆ ≃ 1.5 × 10 7 ⊙ ) star-forming backbone old stars. By means fully homogeneous analysis and using RGB standard candle, we find that 68 lie at same distance from us, within uncertainties D = 12.6 ± 0.3 Mpc 12.7 0.4 Mpc,...

Abstract Post-starburst galaxies are crucial to disentangling the effect of star formation and quenching on galaxy demographics. They comprise, however, a heterogeneous population objects, described in numerous ways. To obtain well-defined uncontaminated sample, we take advantage spatially resolved spectroscopy construct an unambiguous sample E + A galaxies—post-starburst systems with no observed ongoing formation. Using data from Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA)...

New, deep HST photometry allowed us to identify and study eight compact bright ($M_V -5.8$) star clusters in the outskirts of star-forming isolated dwarf galaxy NGC 5238 sun $). Five these are new discoveries, six appear projected onto and/or aligned with tidal tails recently discovered around this galaxy. The partially resolved into stars, their colour magnitude diagrams reveal a well-developed red giant branch, implying ages older than 1-2 Gyr. Their integrated luminosity structural...

New, deep HST photometry allowed us to identify and study eight compact bright (M_V< -5.8) star clusters in the outskirts of star-forming isolated dwarf galaxy NGC5238 (M_*= 10^8 M_sun). Abstract The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is one of the largest international astronomy organizations. We present demographic data based on surveys its members from 2014, 2015 and 2016, during fourth phase SDSS (SDSS-IV). find about half SDSS-IV collaboration were in North America, a quarter Europe, remainder Asia Central South America. Overall, 26%–36% are women (from 2014 to 2016), up 2% report non-binary genders. 11%–14% that they racial or ethnic minorities where live. fraction drops...

Abstract We have spectroscopically identified 600 new E+A galaxies and candidates across 16 fields totaling roughly 480 square degrees in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. are post-starburst systems that undergone a significant burst of star formation within past 1–2 Gyr now fully quenched. They comprise small population is key to understanding transition from star-forming quiescent galaxies.
