Contact . The increasing capabilities of space missions like the James Webb Space Telescope or ground-based observatories European Extremely Large demand high quality laboratory data species in astrophysical conditions for interpretation their findings. Aims We provide new physical and spectroscopic solid methanol that will help to identify this astronomical environments. Methods Ices were grown by vapour deposition vacuum chambers. Densities measured via a cryogenic quartz crystal...
Context. The knowledge of the sublimation energy ices allows us to better understand dynamics between surfaces and atmospheres different environments astrophysical interest where are present.
In this work we present the results of a systematic search for diffuse bands (DBs, hereafter) in circumstellar envelopes carefully selected sample post-AGB stars. We concentrated on analyzing 9 DBs most commonly found interstellar medium. The strength these features is determined using high-resolution optical spectroscopy, and obtained are compared with literature data field stars affected only by reddening. Based weak observed subsample dominated reddening, conclude that carrier(s) must not...
Context. The diffusion of volatile species on amorphous solid water ice affects the chemistry dust grains in interstellar medium as well trapping gases enriching planetary atmospheres or present cometary material. Aims. aim work is to provide coefficients CH$_4$ (ASW), and understand how they are affected by ASW structure. Methods. Ice mixtures H$_2$O were grown different conditions sublimation was monitored via infrared spectroscopy mass loss a cryogenic quartz crystal microbalance....
Abstract This paper is intended to study the density and refractive index of solid carbon monoxide in interval 13–28 K improve our understanding dynamics astrophysical environments where they are present. A series deposition experiments have been performed under high vacuum conditions properties this ice conditions. Ice has experimentally calculated at different temperatures interest, which complement scarce values present literature. The also determined. data used obtain an experimental...
The motivation to study experimentally CO ice under mimicked interstellar conditions is supported by the large gas abundances and ubiquitous presence of in icy grain mantles. Upon irradiation its pure form, this highly stable species presents a limited ion photon-induced chemistry, an efficient non-thermal desorption. Using infrared spectroscopy, single laser interference, quadrupole mass spectrometry during deposition, density was estimated as function deposition temperature. Only minor...
SummaryThe synthetic auxin 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyloxyacetic acid increased fruit size of the Clementine ‘Fina’ (Citrus reticulata Blanco) mandarin. When applied during “June drop”, increasing concentrations 3,5,6-TPA size, with a maximum response at 20 mg l−1, but thinned up to 80% fruits. However, an initial depressive effect on growth was observed due treatment. sprays were after June drop, improved, diameter increment significantly greater only for l−1. thinning much less, 40% 25...
ABSTRACT The presence of methanol among the common ice components in interstellar clouds and protostellar envelopes has been confirmed by James Webb Space Telescope (McClure et al. 2023). Methanol is often detected gas phase towards lines sight shielded from UV radiation. We measured volumetric density grown under simulated conditions infrared spectroscopy at different deposition temperatures during warm-up. IR band strengths are provided, experimental spectra compared to those computed with...
ABSTRACT We present a spectroscopic study of methane–ethane ice mixtures. have grown CH 4 :C 2 H 6 mixtures with ratios 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 at 18 30 K, plus pure methane ethane ices, studied them in the near-infrared (NIR) mid-infrared (MIR) ranges. determined densities all species mentioned above. For amorphous K we obtained density 0.41 0.54 g cm −3 , respectively, lower than previous measurement crystalline species, 0.719 . As far as know this is first determination ice. measured band...
Physical and spectroscopic properties of ices C2H4 CH4:C2H4 mixtures with 3:1, 1:1 1:3 ratios have been investigated at 30 K. Two laboratories are involved in this work. In one them, the density refractive index samples measured by using a cryogenic quartz microbalance laser interferometric techniques. other one, IR spectra recorded near- mid-infrared regions, band shifts respect to pure species, strengths main bands, optical constants both regions determined. Previous data on ethylene...
The butylglycol ester of 2,4-DP increased final fruit size in `Owari Satsuma' mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.). response magnitude depended on the concentration applied and treatment date. When at end physiological drop, 50 mg·liter -1 was most effective for increasing size. Peel density firmness also were improved. Because no thinning occurred, this auxin seemed to stimulate growth. Chemical name used: 2,4-dichlorophenoxypropionic acid (2,4-DP).
Aims. The effective medium approximations (EMAs), or the Lorentz–Lorenz, Maxwell-Garnett, and Bruggeman models, largely used to obtain optical properties porosities of pure ice mixtures, have been experimentally tested in this work. efficiency these has studied by obtaining porosity value for carbon dioxide grown at low temperatures. An explanation behaviour experimental results all temperatures is given. analysis carried out CO 2 can be applied other molecules. Methods. laser interference...
Abstract Desorption energy is a relevant parameter when studying the desorption kinetics of an ice under astrophysical conditions. Values reported are generally calculated using at least experiment and further data analysis present. In this work establishment simple rule that relates species to temperature its peak explored. The paper presents results obtained from zeroth-order experiments, based on use quartz crystal microbalance monitor loss weight during accreted sample high-vacuum...
