Abstract This study aims to expand the discussion regarding extent which tourism can address socioeconomic expectations. Like other coastal regions, state of Alagoas has prioritised promotion, despite facing a rainy season that hinders its primary form tourism, known as Sea, Sun and Sand tourism. We have based our assessment on climate weather. Through various sources, we identified narratives related season. When crossing these with Strategic Plan for Tourism Development 2013-2023, findings...

Abstract Declines in Panulirus echinatus Smith, 1869 populations along their wide distribution the Atlantic Ocean have spurred efforts to improve fisheries management and conservation. In this study, genetic structure of these is reported for first time. a survey 18 species‐specific polymorphic microsatellite markers, 152 individuals were genotyped from five oceanic islands, covering most insular range species. The analyses revealed that P. genetically partitioned into two stocks Ocean. A...

Using high-throughput sequencing technology 17 polymorphic microsatellites with perfect tetra-nucleotide repeats were identified for the brown spiny lobster Panulirus echinatus Smith, 1869. Two to ten alleles detected per locus across 30 samples analysed from Canary Archipelago. Observed and expected heterozygosities ranged between 0.100 0.867 0.095 0.799, respectively. No significant linkage disequilibrium was found pairs of loci, only one (Pe-L43) deviated Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium,...

Abstract Lobsters are recognizable faunal elements that play an important role as top predator in the trophic webs benthic ecosystems and have economic importance due to intensive valuable fishery. In Rocas Atoll (03°51′S 33°48′W) presence of five species lobsters low tide pools was observed by visual census. These were: Enoplometopus antillensis Lütken, 1865; Palinurellus gundlachi Von Martens, 1878; Panulirus argus (Latreille, 1804); echinatus Smith, 1869; Parribacus antarcticus (Lund,...

Abstract In Rocas Atoll (03°51′S 033°48′W) a most abundant population of Panulirus echinatus Smith, 1869 was observed during free dives. Numbers males and females were almost the same, with an overall sex ratio M : F = 1.1. addition, are larger than females, mean male carapace length (CL) 92.6 ± 1.8 mm, while female CL 72.7 1.0 mm for both combined 83.1 1.4 mm. The percentage breeding, i.e., spermatophore mass or eggs, 75.1%. More information is needed to better understand fluctuation in...

Abstract Spiny lobsters are the main target of commercial fisheries along coast Brazil. Little is known about lobster egg production, making it difficult to estimate reproductive capacity. The purpose this study was update fecundity data on Brazilian as a subsidy for stock management and prevention overexploitation.
