Metal phosphides from the 3d period exhibit a range of structures and compositions. Many metal-rich monophosphides function as heterogeneous electrocatalysts in hydrogen evolution reaction. This paper describes direct tin flux-assisted synthesis phosphorus-rich metal with MP2 or MP3 The facile FeP2, CoP3, NiP2, CuP2 is thermochemically driven by PCl3 formation reactions anhydrous halides P4 vapor at 500 °C. Well-crystallized micrometer-sized particles result these solvent-free reactions. A...

New stilbenoid and thiophenic compounds terminally functionalized with donor–donor, acceptor–acceptor, or donor–acceptor moieties possessing a central [2.2]paracyclophane unit have been prepared, their properties interpreted in terms of through-bond through space π-electron delocalization (i.e., π-conjugations). Based on photophysical data, excited-state described focus the participation competition conjugation side arms. To this end, two-photon one-photon absorption emission spectroscopy,...

Oligothiophene-substituted 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobutadienes (TCBDs) have been synthesized by [2 + 2] cycloaddition reactions between tetracyanoethylene and oligothiophene alkynes. The TCBD moiety is compared to other electron acceptors attached dibutylterthiophene including dicyanovinyl (DCV) tricyanovinyl (TCV). These donor−acceptor molecules (TCBD-3T, DCV-3T, TCV-3T) show red-shifted absorption spectra relative the unsubstituted as a result of intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT)....

Benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophenes were oxidized under mild conditions with m-CPBA to yield the corresponding bis-sulfones (or tetraoxides). These sulfones possess red-shifted absorption and emission spectra relative parent molecules. Electrochemical analyses reveal that benzodithiophene molecules are transformed from electron donors acceptors.

The facile solvent-free synthesis of several known metal thiophosphates was accomplished by a chemical exchange reaction between anhydrous chlorides and elemental phosphorus with sulfur, or combinations molecular P2S5 at moderate 500 °C temperatures. crystalline products obtained from this synthetic approach include MPS3 (M = Fe, Co, Ni) Cu3PS4. successful reactions benefit thermochemically favorable PCl3 elimination. This route performed temperatures leads to mixed anion complex...

A working electrode was developed to test the electrochemical behavior of insoluble particles in aqueous acidic and basic electrolytes. The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen reduction (OER), pseudocapacitive nickel phosphide, oxide, cobalt oxide were evaluated. consists a coiled copper wire (55:45 wt. %) mixture graphite paraffin wax, housed either glass or polyvinyl fluoroethylene (PTFE) tubing. malleability surface allows for be directly embedded into without use binder materials...

Of the vitamins identified by National Institutes of Health, all 13 are electroactive. Vitamins serve as enzymes and coenzymes in metabolic reactions. As catalysts co-catalysts, neither provide energy nor structural components larger molecules.
