We consider the discrete Couzin-Vicsek algorithm (CVA), which describes interactions of individuals among animal societies such as fish schools. In this article, we propose a kinetic (mean-field) version CVA model and provide its formal macroscopic limit. The final involves conservation equation for density non conservative director mean velocity is proved to be hyperbolic. derivation based on introduction non-conventional concept collisional invariant collision operator.

This paper deals with the derivation and analysis of Hall Magneto-Hydrodynamic equations. We first provide a this system from two-fluids Euler-Maxwell for electrons ions, through set scaling limits. also propose kinetic formulation Hall-MHD equations which contains as fluid closure different variants model. Then, we prove existence global weak solutions incompressible viscous resistive use particular structure term has zero contribution to energy identity. Finally, discuss in form...

The aim of this paper is to present and study a particle method for convection-diffusion equations based on the approximation diffusion operators by integral use solve integro-differential described previously second author. first part concerned with isotropic operators, whereas will consider general case nonconstant matrix diffusion. In former case, operator much simpler than in case. Furthermore, we get two possibilities approximations, depending whether or not positive.

This paper shows that various models of electron transport in semiconductors have been previously proposed the literature can be connected one with each other by diffusion approximation methodology. We first investigate limit semiconductor Boltzmann equation towards so-called ‘‘spherical harmonic expansion model,’’ under assumption dominant elastic scattering. Then, this model is again connected, either to energy-transport or a ‘‘periodic spherical model’’ through approximation, respectively...

In human crowds as well in many animal societies, local interactions among individuals often give rise to self-organized collective organizations that offer functional benefits the group. For instance, flows of pedestrians moving opposite directions spontaneously segregate into lanes uniform walking directions. This phenomenon is referred a smart pattern, it increases traffic efficiency with no need external control. However, this emergent organization have never been experimentally...

We consider a supply chain consisting of sequence buffer queues and processors with certain throughput times capacities. Based on simple rule for releasing parts, i.e., batches product or individual items, from the buffers into processors, we derive hyperbolic conservation law part density flux in chain. The will be asymptotically valid regimes large number parts Solutions this general develop concentrations corresponding to bottlenecks

An all speed scheme for the Isentropic Euler equation is presented in this paper. When Mach number tends to zero, compressible converges its incompressible counterpart, which density becomes a constant. Increasing approximation errors and severe stability constraints are main difficulty low regime. Abstract While walking through a crowd, pedestrian experiences large number of interactions with his neighbors. The nature these is varied, and it has been observed that macroscopic phenomena emerge from the combination local interactions. Crowd models have hitherto considered collision avoidance as unique type between individuals, few in groups. By contrast, our paper focuses on due to following behaviors pedestrians. Following frequently when people walk corridors or they queue. Typical...

The Fokker-Planck collision operator is usually considered as an approximation of the Boltzmann when collisions become grazing. A mathematical framework to this approach has recently been given in Ref. 2, by assuming that scattering cross-section smooth and depends upon a small parameter ε which tends zero. However, connection between physical quantities unclear. In present paper, our main concern for Coulomb its approximation. case collisions, non-integrable singularity relative velocity...
