The demand for more sustainable solutions has led an ever-growing number of stakeholders to being committed pursue the principles sustainability in pavement management. Different have been looking tools and methodologies evaluate environmental impacts solutions, which life cycle assessment (LCA) proved be appropriate methodology. This paper is focused on LCA road multi-recycling based use bituminous mixtures with high rates reclaimed asphalt (RAP). In order promote circular economy, a...

Considerable amounts of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) are produced every year, as the road network requires maintenance to ensure safety and comfort its users. RAP is a 100% recyclable material useful fit be re-introduced into another cycle without downgrading functionality. Despite current knowledge about benefits associated with use, it not yet largely applied in several countries. This paper aims validate, on basis both short- long-term mechanical behaviours, application bituminous...

Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) multi-recycling is a step forward in the circular economy by reuse of materials successive phases life cycle infrastructures without downgrading their functionality. RAP application continues to be faced with some challenges and barriers that are yet overcome enable its widespread use mainly for rates up 100%. With increment mixtures use, capacity will near future problem. This paper assessed high incorporation rate (75%) mixture wearing courses, before after...

This paper addresses the changes in bitumen properties during multi-recycling cycles, both before and after ageing. The rheology of recovered was characterized using dynamic shear rheometer. softening point penetration value were also determined. analysis showed that bitumen’s could be even more than one recycling cycle. from second cycle presented an average reduction 45% terms complex modulus when compared with first RAP mixtures a similar susceptibility to clearly has potential multi-recycled.

Stone matrix asphalt (SMA) is a discontinuous hot-mixed mixture designed to enhance the contact between coarse aggregates, improving resistance deformation. A rich mastic, made of fine filler, and fibers, fills voids in mineral skeleton. Due high content, which can lead drainage during transport application, fibers are added stabilize mixture. Textile byproduct textile industry, present sustainable alternative, offering proper waste disposal while This study investigated use as stabilizing...

Over the past 50 years, global plastic production has surged exponentially. Around 40% of this is used for packaging, most which single-use, while 20% in construction. Despite vast quantities produced, only about 6% discarded plastics are properly recycled, 10% incinerated, and majority disposed without proper management. With low recycling rates some being non-recyclable or with limited cycles, it important to explore new ways reusing waste as secondary raw materials. This study explores...

The paper addresses the evaluation of wave energy absorption at a fishing pier in town Balneário Arroio do Silva, coastal south region Brazil. This study considers use oscillating-water-column (OWC) converters composed by tubes tied to pillars pier. In order evaluate extraction, mathematical model OWC device for this specific application is obtained. First, equations and fluid mechanics theory are used describe physical behavior air inside tube. Then flux converted mechanical torque using...

The main objective of the paper is to assess viability re-use RAP mixtures as a solution for road pavement rehabilitation combining mechanical, functional and environmental aspects. To evaluate impact Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was performed considering real section. LCA carried out on two scenarios that stem from combination production, construction maintenance operations: one considers 75% incorporation in new asphalt mixture; another reference with virgin raw materials. mechanical...
