One way to valorize “Saba” banana peel waste is extract high-value compounds, such as pectin, and use it for food applications. In this study, the parameters microwave-assisted extraction of pectin were screened optimized using Response Surface Methodology. The was purified then subjected characterization. Results showed that optimum conditions 195°C, 8% solid-liquid ratio, pH 3 hydrochloric acid (HCl), with predicted actual yields 12.8% 14.2%, respectively. subsequent purification method...
The use of nanomaterials for food packaging has been steadily increasing globally and is already a billion dollar industry. There also growing interests in developing safe environment-friendly materials. This study developed corn starch-based nanocomposite sheet using nanosilica from recycled biodegradable rice hull ash sol-gel method. extraction yield was 80.41% with purity about 99%. sizes extracted silica particles agglomerated are 6.33 ± 1.62 nm (using atomic force microscopy) 41.67 to...
