Zinc-coated advanced high-strength steels are known to be susceptible liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracking during resistance spot welding (RSW). Despite numerous reports with regard LME RSW, a systematic approach has not been proposed for the classification of cracks based on mechanism. The objective this study was characterize at various RSW locations, and thereby propose method identify mechanism each location. experimental results revealed were concentrated certain weld locations...

In this work, the effects of coating composition and welding parameters on heat generation nugget formation during resistance spot hot press forming steels have been evaluated. Two types coated were used, termed as Al–Si Zn coating. steel showed rapid growth toward electrode direction, which is probable reason higher conduction from electrode–sheet surface bulk material. steel, was generated localised at faying interface uniformly propagated to substrate. High speed camera images that...

Magnesium (Mg) alloys have a low density among the structural metals, but it is hard to be plastically deformed due their crystallographic nature. Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) could one of alternative processes fabricate Mg products for various industrial applications. Nonetheless, used in limited fields challenging issues such as commercial availability wire, high oxygen affinity, explosive and flammable hazard, typical defects WAAM like distortion side collapse, grain coarsening,...

In this study, the influence of microstructural evolution galvannealed (GA) coating and thermomechanical characteristics liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracking during resistance spot welding (RSW) steels were investigated. The analysis LME cracks, microstructure at various weld regions revealed a synergistic effect Zn, α-Fe(Zn), tensile stress on RSW. A continuous α-Fe(Zn) layer inhibits Zn from contacting steel substrate; hence, was suppressed. However, long-duration, high-magnitude can...

Generally, molds are fabricated by the machining of massive billets tool steels, such as AISI4140 or H13, but it has drawbacks, a large material loss and long-delivery time. The Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) process could be an alternative fabrication method. It advantages less loss, short-delivery time, chance to make reinforced mold using dissimilar materials. 5 Cr – 4 Mo steel wire high potential produce via WAAM process. This is commercial solid initially designed for repair...

The wear behavior of AISI304 stainless steel was investigated under dry, water-, and oil-lubricated conditions. A block-on-disk test conducted in this work, since the conditions could be controlled easily. For contact, a significant amount thin elongated cutting chip-like debris observed. This is attributed to high lubricating effect oil. Strain-induced martensitic (SIM) transformation observed for all blocks after test, while consisted single γ-austenite phase prior test. Stribeck curve...
