ABSTRACT The most well‐known relationship is between sea anemones and decapod crustaceans, of which crabs are classic examples mutualistic interactions in both organisms benefit from living with zooxanthellae hermatypic or reef‐forming corals. A marine ecology study off the southern coast Tamil Nadu revealed five types that cohabit symbiotically other animals. These species include Stichodactyla haddoni (Saville‐Kent, 1893), Entacmaea quadricolor (Leuckart Ruppell Leukart, 1828), Radianthus...
Abstract Observations and analysis of the food feeding habits penaeid shrimp are decisive for understanding webs ecological processes. Published information on green shrimp, Penaeus semisulcatusDe Haan, 1844, from Indian waters, however, dates back four decades, despite fact that tiger is one important species forms a unique fishery in Palk Bay, southeastern India. Hence, its dietary preferences were analysed concerning sex, season, gonad maturity, size. The preyed composed diversified...
Abstract The catostylid jellyfish, Crambionella annandalei was originally described by Rao (1932) based on a preserved specimen collected from the Andaman Sea. Since then, no detailed taxonomic studies have been conducted and species is often misidentified. Here, we provide morphological re-description of C. fresh material at variety locations along east coast India. can be distinguished its congeners combination characters, most important which are proportion terminal club length to oral...
The hybrid surface composite of AISI-630 was fabricated with reinforced MoS2 and fly ash using a Gas Tungsten Arc (GTA) setup. solid lubricant expected to improve the wear resistance, but it will reduce hardness. Owing presence various oxides, flyash hardness resistance. specific importance this project is find out effect on resistance reinforcement in equal volume. heat source parameters were optimised minimum percentage reduction bead characteristics. Compared parent metal, microhardness...
Species checklists enlist the species available within defined geographical region and thus serve as essential input for developing conservation management strategies. The fields of biology ecology confront challenge inflated biodiversity, attributed to non-recognition taxonomic inconsistencies such synonyms, alternate representation, emendations etc. Critical review distributional records Phylum Echinodermata from Indian waters subsequent validation names with World Register Marine (WoRMS)...
Food habits of Malabar Pied Hornbill Anthracoceros coronatus were studied from December 2000 to 2001, in the Athikadavu valley, Western Ghats, India. A total 147 individuals belonging 18 fleshy-fruited tree species monitored fortnightly. Thirteen fruit species, including five figs and eight non-figs, recorded birds' diet. The overall number fruiting increased with onset summer, Hornbill's breeding season. peak is attributed by figs. Figs formed top three preferred food throughout year....
The association of Parthenopid crab Zebrida adamsii and flower urchin Toxopneustes pileolus is reported for the first time from Gulf Mannar. has been found to be associated exclusively with these sea urchins this obligatory studied by introducing another host Salmacis virgulata understand preferences. Â
The present study was conducted to find out whether the abiotic factors in Gulf of Mannar viz., Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Day light photoperiod would have an effect on Gonado somatic index dominant sea urchin species Salmacis virgulata. A sampling survey for 20 months from October-2013 May-2015 Vedalai landing centre, along Mannar. freshly collected were brought Mandapam CMFRI their Somatic Index (GSI) estimated. remote sensing data SST sourced ICOADS daylight compared with GSI order...
