Abstract A new glass‐ceramic composition containing Si, Mg, Ca, Na, Al, Zr, and B is presented here as sealant for planar SOFCs/SOECs, with the aim of joining metallic interconnect (Crofer22APU) to solid oxide cell (YSZ electrolyte or CGO barrier layer). Characteristic temperature, thermo‐mechanical properties, compositional variations are reviewed discussed by thermal analyses in situ XRD, order design optimize sealing profile reduce residual porosity. The glass after heat treatment...

Summary Kikuchi bands in election backscattered diffraction patterns (EBSP) contain information about lattice constants of crystallographic samples that can be extracted via the Bragg equation. An advantage constant measurement from EBSPs over (XRD) is ability to perform local analysis. In this study, cubic STN and YSZ pure materials co‐sintered composites were measured their acquired at 10 kV using a silicon single crystal as calibration reference. The EBSP distortion was corrected by...

Abstract Stack tests were run at 850 °C for periods from 80 hours to 1,150 develop contacting procedures and the same time evaluate performance of a 5 μm electroplated nickel coating on ferritic Fe22Cr interconnect. The metallic reacted relatively quickly during initial heating 1,030 °C. During this time, 20–70 thick surface layers austenitic steel formed, which covered by 1–4 chromia layer anode side mixed Cr‐Fe‐Ni‐spinels over cathode side. microstructure composition protective scale was...

Solid oxide cells require seals that can function in harsh, elevated temperature environments. In addition, a low Si content be advantageous, since impurities from the glass sealant transported to active fuel electrode and poison Ni-YSZ triple phase boundaries. To reduce amount of emission, containing sealing (chemical composition: 50 mol% CaO, 20 ZnO, B2O3 10 SiO2) was developed at DTU. this work, results thermal characterization, crystallization behavior long-term stability adhesion were...

Abstract Poly( l ‐lactide) in its ‐form has promising mechanical properties. Being a semicrystalline polymer, it can be subjected to strain‐induced crystallization at temperatures above T g and thereby become oriented. Following simultaneous ( SIM ) biaxial strain process or sequential SEQ process, the properties of biaxially strained tubes further improved. This study investigated these relation their morphology crystal orientation. Both processes yield same strength modulus, yet exhibit...

This study investigates the effect of focused ion beam (FIB) current and accelerating voltage on electron backscatter diffraction pattern quality yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) Nb-doped strontium titanate (STN) to optimize data acquisition time for 3D-EBSD experiments by FIB serial sectioning. Band contrast band slope were used describe quality. The probe currents investigated ranged from 100 5000 pA was either 30 or 5 kV. results show that kV milling induced a significant reduction STN...

ABSTRACT Poly( l ‐lactide) (PLLA) is a bioabsorbable polymer with high stiffness and strength compared to the other commercially available polymers. The properties of PLLA can be improved by straining, causing deformation‐mediated molecular orientation. tubes were biaxially strained above their T g for improvement strength, in two‐step process (sequential straining). Mechanical crystal morphology investigated as function processing strain rate temperature. DSC revealed that low allows chain...

Dilatometry in reducing atmosphere showed an increase the sintering rate sintered density with amount. Microscopy of fractured surfaces samples that average grain size increased drastically conditions increasing content (and associated A‐site vacancies).
