This study provided the first evidence for an antioxidant action of silk protein sericin by showing that suppressed in vitro lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, was found to inhibit tyrosinase activity. These results suggest may be a valuable natural ingredient food and cosmetic industries.

Although visual display terminal (VDT) work has become a common task among office workers, surveys which would help to determine the allowable duration of daily VDT use are limited. We investigated more than 25,000 workers three times over 3-year period using self-administered questionnaire. Three factors, namely mental, physical and sleep-related symptoms, were extracted by factor analysis. Adjusted means each score compared with general linear model.Physical symptoms became higher...

This study was conducted to compare the physicochemical and functional properties of buckwheat protein product (BWP), soy isolate (SPI), casein. BWP prepared from flour by method including alkaline extraction isoelectric precipitation. The amino acid composition very similar that flour. solubility (PS) much greater than SPI at all pH levels (pH 2−10) but lower casein 7−10. point around 4. higher aromatic hydrophobicities (ARH) BWP, SPI, were obtained 2−3). emulsifying stability (ES) those...

This study was done to discover the underlying mechanism of inhibitory effect sericin against colon tumorigenesis. Mice were fed a diet with 30 g/kg for 115 d, and given weekly injection 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (10 mg/kg body weight) initial 10 wk. Dietary supplemental caused 62% reduction in incidence colonic adenoma (P<0.05), but did not affect adenocarcinoma. Sericin intake significantly reduced number adenomas. Consumption BrdU labeling index proliferating cells expression c-myc c-fos. The...

We postulated that high fat diet enhances colon cell proliferation and carcinogenesis by elevating serum leptin. To examine this possibility, the present study was conducted to investigate effect of leptin on growth human cancer cells (HT29) relationship between aberrant crypt foci (ACF) in 1,2-dimethylhydrazine-treated rats fed graded levels dietary for 28 days. In culture experiments, stimulated (BrdU incorporation) expression c-fos protein. vivo an elevation caused higher adipose-tissue...

ABSTRACT: Tartary buckwheat protein product (TBP) was prepared from flour by alkali extraction and isoelectric precipitation. The content of TBP 45.8%, its amino acid composition similar to that common (BWP). SDS‐PAGE analysis showed the profile partially different BWP. contained more quercetin (1710 mg/100 g) than BWP (5.4 g), while there a small difference in contents rutin between them. In experiment 1, consumption at 20% net level for 13 d caused 32% 25% reductions serum cholesterol rats...
