Single-molecule magnets (SMMs) have potential applications in high-density data storage, but magnetic relaxation times at elevated temperatures must be increased to make them practically useful. Bis-cyclopentadienyl lanthanide sandwich complexes emerged as the leading candidates for SMMs that show memory liquid nitrogen temperatures, mechanisms mediated by aromatic C5 rings not been fully established. Here we synthesize a bis-monophospholyl dysprosium SMM [Dy(Dtp)2][Al{OC(CF3)3}4] (1, Dtp =...

The use of magnetisation decay measurements to characterise very slow relaxation the in single-molecule magnets is becoming increasingly prevalent as times move longer timescales outside AC susceptibility range. However, experimental limitations and a poor understanding distribution underlying stretched exponential function, commonly used model data, may be leading misinterpretation results. Herein we develop guidelines on design, data fitting, analysis required accurately interpret...

The effects of external pressure on a high-performing dysprosocenium single-molecule magnet are investigated using combination X-ray diffraction, magnetometry and theoretical calculations. effective energy barrier (Ueff) decreases from ca. 1300 cm-1 at ambient to 1125 3 GPa. Our results indicate that compression < 1.2 GPa has negligible effect the Orbach process, but magnetic relaxation > 1 increases via Raman and/or quantum tunnelling magnetisation.

The objective, in packing particles by vibration, is to increase the density of packing. main factors affecting this way are characteristics powder (size distribution, shape, surface condition) and vibration variables (frequency, amplitude, time). Other include segregation size shape also, for a multicomponent powder, particle density. wall effect container might also be expected influence its vicinity. An experimental investigation some these here reported.
