This article studies the properties of maximum likelihood estimator population proportion in ranked set sampling with extreme ranks. The is described and its asymptotic distribution derived. Finite sample size are investigated using simulation studies. It turns out that proposed substantially more efficient than simple random analogs, as true tends to zero/unity. method illustrated data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey.

ABSTRACT The mean residual life (MRL) function plays an important role in the summary and analysis of survival data. main advantage this is that it summarizes information units time instead a probability scale, which requires careful interpretation. Ranked set sampling (RSS) technique designed for situations, where obtaining precise measurements sample expensive or difficult, but ranking them without referring to their accurate values cost‐effective easy. However, practical application RSS...

In this paper, a new modification of ranked set sampling (RSS) is suggested, namely; unified (URSS) for estimating the population mean and variance. The performance empirical variance estimators based on URSS are compared with their counterparts in simple random (SRS) via Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation results indicate that perform better than using RSS SRS designs when ranking perfect. When imperfect, still superior methods. Finally, an illustrative example provided to show efficiency...

Rank-based sampling methods are applicable in settings where precise measurements expensive, but small sets of units can be accurately ranked at negligible cost. This article introduces one such a design, called multistage pair set sampling. It mitigates ranking burden associated with competitor scheme, namely The mean estimator is unbiased, and under perfect rankings has variance no larger than its simple random counterpart. Although the suggested outperformed by analog terms precision...

In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating population proportion in pair ranked set sampling design. An unbiased estimator for is proposed, and its theoretical properties are studied. It shown that more (less) efficient than counterpart simple random (ranked sampling). Asymptotic normality also established. Application suggested procedure illustrated using a data from an environmental study.

This article deals with entropy estimation using ranked set sampling (RSS). Some estimators are developed based on the empirical distribution function and its nonparametric maximum likelihood competitor. The suggested have smaller root mean squared errors than other in literature. proposed then used to construct goodness of fit tests for inverse Gaussian distribution.
