Bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation on surfaces are troublesome in many industrial processes. Here, nanoporous nanopillared aluminum were engineered by anodizing postetching processes made hydrophilic (using the inherent oxide layer) or hydrophobic (applying a Teflon coating) with aim of discouraging bacterial adhesion. Adhesion Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 12600 (Gram-positive, spherically shaped) Escherichia coli K-12 (Gram-negative, rod-shaped) was evaluated to nanoengineered under...

ABSTRACT Milk fouling and self‐cleanability of the heat exchanger surface during pasteurization process has gained attention from industries as well academia. In particular, antifouling mechanism associated with plate corrugation profiles causing extreme turbulent flow scheme coatings to reduce energy is uncertain. This study was aimed develop a computational fluid dynamics (CFDs) model in three‐dimensional (3‐D) environment, which could estimate performances exchangers (PHEs) milk process....

This study demonstrates the fabrication and anti-adhesion attributes of a self-cleaning surface (self-slippery liquid-infused porous surface, or SLIPS) by modifying stainless steel plate. The consisted mainly superhydrophobic multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) Teflon composite layer infused with low tension liquid lubricant (Krytox). degree slipperiness developed SLIPS was measured estimating sliding angles 500 μL water droplets as well oil, ketchup, honey droplets. To evaluate...

Abstract The dielectric (DE) properties, specifically the DE constant (ε′) and loss factor (ε′′), were measured for vacuum‐dried freeze‐dried potato samples at a microwave frequency of 2.45 GHz over range different moisture contents (MCs) using probe also 2‐probe electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Third‐order polynomial models (ε′ = f 1 (MC); ε′′ 2 (MC)) room temperature developed regression analysis. Additionally, various temperatures ( T ), biphasic 3rd‐order (MC, ); )) obtained...

Nanoporous and nanopillared anodic aluminum oxide surfaces in both hydrophilic hydrophobic surface conditions were engineered to examine for bacterial adhesions (S. aureus E. coli K-12) under stagnant dynamic flow environments. The showed the most pronounced effect prevent bacteria conditions. It is attributed air layer entrapped on due roughness-induced superhydrophobicity as well minimized contact area of solid pillared morphology.

Abstract. Stainless steel is one of the most widely used metals for food industry applications. Cavities and crevices on its surface are able to accommodate bacteria that can evade bactericidal activity. Therefore, evaluation electropolishing anodizing treatments anti-biofouling performance stainless surfaces was carried out in this study. Plates 316L were electropolished make nanosmooth a mixture solution phosphoric acid sulfuric at 3.5 V 80°C 10 min. These samples anodized an anhydrous...

Galangal (Alpinia officinarum) essential oil potentially exerts several health benefits such as antiproliferative, pain relief and fever reduction activities. The in this study was extracted using the microwave (MW) assisted treatment an alternative method to conventional extraction. samples were treated with MW at different power levels (600, 700, 800 W) for 3 min before subjecting a hydro distillation effect of sample:water ratio (1:1 1:0.5) also investigated. 600 W 1:1 resulted highest...

The polyphenolic compounds in green tea extract i.e. tannins and polyphenols, especially catechins, attribute to organoleptic heath promoting functions. For tea  caffeine, although it is known stimulate nervous system; however, overuse of caffeine may induce a number detrimental effects including headaches migraines. Therefore, this research aimed at optimizing the separation major polyphenols  namely catechins from using adsorption/desorption technique. In study, Assam was prepared by...
