We analyzed the outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) over past 2 decades. Between 1992 and 2009, 953 patients were treated with HSCT, mainly for a hematologic malignancy. They divided according to 4 different time periods treatment: 1995, 1996 2000, 2001 2005, 2006 2009. Over years, many factors have changed considerably regarding patient age, diagnosis, disease stage, type donor, source, genomic HLA typing, dose, conditioning, treatment infections, use...

BK-virus (BKV) associated nephropathy (BKVAN) and BKV haemorrhagic cystitis (HC) are complications of infection/reactivation in renal allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients, respectively. The task how to manage these diseases was given the chair by Swedish Reference Group for Antiviral Therapy (RAV). After individual contributions members working group, consensus discussions were held a meeting on 23 January 2018 arranged RAV. Thereafter, recommendations...

An outbreak of human adenovirus (HAdV) A31 occurred from December 2011 to March 2012 at the Center for Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation (CAST), Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden. We analyzed outbreak, routes transmission, and report medical consequences. The records all patients admitted CAST during period were studied. Phylogenetic analysis patient HAdV strains was performed by sequencing hexon gene more variable E3 gene.We identified 9 cases A31. Hygiene measures implemented, but...

Norovirus (NV) can cause chronic and severe gastroenteritis with possible lethal outcome in immunocompromised patients. The knowledge of NV infections allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients is limited. aim this study was to clarify the clinical importance a large cohort HSCT recipients. All patients undergoing diagnosed at Karolinska University Hospital from 2006-2012 were included (63 patients). Clinical data collected medical records, statistics performed using...

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, which mostly causes a subclinical infection early in life, has important clinical consequences certain patient groups. CMV is the most common congenital and can cause permanent disabilities such as hearing loss motor- cognitive deficits affected infants. In allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell solid organ transplant recipients, still an infectious complication with risk for life-threatening disease. The previous Swedish recommendations management of infections...

Background. Human secretor-status is a strong susceptibility factor for norovirus infection in immunocompetent people. The predominant genotype GII.4 almost exclusively infects secretors and also associated with more severe symptoms. However, it not known to what extent this applies immunocompromised individuals. Our objective was determine the importance of and/or clinical course allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT) patients. Methods: This retrospective study 89 HCT patients...
