Abstract Mature super-Earths and sub-Neptunes are predicted to be ≃ Jovian radius when younger than 10 Myr. Thus, we expect find 5–15 R ⊕ planets around young stars even if their older counterparts harbor none. We report the discovery validation of TOI 1227b, a 0.85 ± 0.05 J (9.5 ) planet transiting very-low-mass star (0.170 0.015 M ⊙ every 27.4 days. 1227's kinematics strong lithium absorption confirm that it is member previously discovered subgroup in Lower Centaurus Crux OB association,...
We obtained high-resolution infrared spectroscopy and short-cadence photometry of the 600-800 Myr Praesepe star K2-100 during transits its 1.67-day planet. This Neptune-size object, discovered by NASA K2 mission, is an interloper in "desert" planets with similar radii on short period orbits. Our observations can be used to understand origin evolution constraining orbital eccentricity transit fitting, measuring spin-orbit obliquity Rossiter-McLaughlin effect, detecting any extended, escaping...
Young planets provide a window into the early stages and evolution of planetary systems. Ideal for such research are in coeval associations, where parent population can precisely determine their ages. We describe young association (MELANGE-3) Kepler field, which harbors two transiting systems (Kepler-1928 Kepler-970). identify MELANGE-3 by searching kinematic spatial overdensities around planet hosts with high levels lithium. To age membership MELANGE-3, we combine new high-resolution...
Excess infrared flux from white dwarf stars is likely to arise a dusty debris disk or cool companion. In this work, we present near-infrared spectroscopic observations with Keck/MOSFIRE, Gemini/GNIRS, and Gemini/Flamingos-2 of seven dwarfs excesses identified in previous studies. We confirmed the presence dust disks around four (Gaia J0611-6931, Gaia J0006+2858, J2100+2122, WD 0145+234) as well two new brown pairs J0052+4505 J0603+4518). three systems, detected for first time metal emissions...
Abstract Although all-sky surveys have led to the discovery of dozens young planets, little is known about their atmospheres. Here, we present multiwavelength transit data for super-Neptune sized exoplanet, K2-33b—the youngest (∼10 Myr) transiting exoplanet date. We combined photometric observations K2-33 covering a total 33 transits spanning >2 yr, taken from K2, MEarth, Hubble Space Telescope (HST), and Spitzer. The photometry spanned optical near-infrared (0.6–4.5 μ m), enabling us...
Although all-sky surveys have led to the discovery of dozens young planets, little is known about their atmospheres. Here, we present multi-wavelength transit data for super Neptune-sized exoplanet, K2-33b -- youngest (~10 Myr) transiting exoplanet to-date. We combined photometric observations K2-33 covering a total 33 transits spanning >2 years, taken from K2, MEarth, Hubble, and Spitzer. The photometry spanned optical near-infrared (0.6-4.5$μ$m), enabling us construct transmission...
