The potential of households’ used cooking oil (UCO) recycling for biodiesel production is massive. This study aims to promote the shift from UCO inappropriate disposal sustainable recycling. classified as municipal waste under code 20 01 25 (edible oils and fats), according European Waste Catalogue. Inappropriate increases operating cost wastewater treatment, risk groundwater contamination, well greenhouse gas emissions that are associated with its biodegradation. Recycling UCO-to-biodiesel...
The recent pandemic has considerably changed urban transportation while highlighting the weaknesses of current transport modes. crisis provided a unique opportunity to redesign mobility plans in more sustainable and resilient way. This study captured impact COVID-19 outbreak subsequent restrictive measures on citizens' commuting habits travel mode choice two Cretan cities with academic communities intense seasonality tourism, phases (four periods) before, during, after quarantine. sample...
The energy and environmental performance of photovoltaic (PV) panel cooling, when using phase change materials (PCMs), was examined. Actual, long-term field data were collected from a PV PV-PCM system, both operating under Mediterranean conditions (Greece). analysis revealed that even though cooling increases (9.4%) the panel's output, PCM is associated with high initial investment, leading to low energy-return-on-investment values (1.79) compared (4.94). High payback times observed for (⁓14...
