Abstract A statistical analysis of tropical upper-tropospheric trough (TUTT) cells over the western North Pacific Ocean (WNP) during 2006 to 2015 is performed using NCEP Final reanalysis. total 369 TUTT-cell events or 6836 TUTT are identified, with a peak frequency in July. Most form east 150°E and then move southwestward mean speed 6.6 m s −1 life span 4.4 days. About 75% have radii <500 km 200-hPa central heights <1239.4 dam. In general, exhibit negative height anomalies above 450...

Abstract The role of turbulent diapycnal mixing in the northwestern Pacific was estimated by employing a fine‐scale parameterization method based on 6756 high‐resolution CTD profiles spanning period 8 years from Japan Oceanography Data Center (JODC) and Kuroshio Extension System Study (KESS). rate upper ocean within 300–1800 m depth displayed distinct seasonal cycle, bearing statistically significant correlation to wind‐induced near‐inertial energy flux (hereafter denoted WNEF). Enhanced...

Abstract Salinity of the Indian Ocean Subtropical Underwater (IOSTUW) showed robust decadal variability during Argo period, with a freshening trend between 2005 and 2013 salinification 2014 2019. The salinity IOSTUW originated from both sea surface maximum region in subtropical South southeastern tropical Ocean. mixed layer variabilities these two regions are dominated by horizontal advection, which is mainly influenced anomalous local currents anomalies western Pacific Maritime Continent....

ABSTRACT In this study, the characteristics of tropical cyclones (TCs) over Bay Bengal (BoB) that affect snowfall on Tibetan Plateau (TP) and spatiotemporal distribution related to BoB TCs are statistically analysed by using multi‐sources data from 1981 2020, with partitioning TC‐influenced tracking cloud clusters. The results show 141 formed during 40‐year period 1981–2020, which about 35% (50 TCs) impacted at 83% meteorological stations TP their northward or westward movement, average...
