Drought is the most significant environmental stress for agricultural production worldwide, and tremendous efforts have been made to improve crop yield under increasing water scarcity. Transcription factors are major players in regulation of stress-related genes plants. Recently, different MYB transcription were characterized their involvement drought response. A sugarcane R2R3-MYB gene (ScMYBAS1) its four alternative forms transcript (ScMYAS1-2, ScMYBAS1-3, ScMYBAS1-4 ScMYBAS1-5) identified...

A sugarcane gene encoding a dirigent-jacalin, ShDJ, was induced under drought stress. To elucidate its biological function, we integrated ShDJ-overexpression construction into the rice Nipponbare genome via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Two transgenic lines with single copy in T0 were selected and evaluated both T1 T4 generations. Transgenic had drastically improved survival rate water deficit conditions, at rates close to 100%, while WT did not survive. Besides, biomass production...

Genetic diversity among Puccinia melanocephala isolates characterization of the 34 P. conducted using 16 SSR loci revealed existence low genetic variability isolates. The average estimated distance was 0.12.Phenetic analysis based on Nei's clustered into 2 major groups.Groups I and II included 18 14 isolates, respectively, both groups contained from all 4 geographic regions studied. Two did not cluster with these groups. It possible to obtain clusters according location or state origin.Analysis...

Leaf scald is one of the most important diseases sugarcane in Brazil. Despite its importance, little known about genetic and pathogenic variability causal agent, Xanthomonas albilineans. The diversity 44 X. albilineans isolates from diverse geographic regions Brazil was assessed using 15 newly developed short sequence repeat (SSR) loci designed genome strain GPE PC73. In addition, aggressiveness each isolate evaluated by inoculating on a susceptible cultivar scoring disease severity. Of SSR...
