Abstract Novel pH‐sensitive hydrogels based on chitosan, itaconic acid and methacrylic were prepared in two steps. Chitosan was first ionically crosslinked with acid, after which a free radical polymerization crosslinking of the chitosan/itaconic network performed by adding crosslinker order to achieve better mechanical properties tunable swelling. The samples characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray...

Abstract Chitosan is a biodegradable, non‐toxic, biocompatible polymer convenient for use in drug delivery. In this study, hybrid polymeric networks (HPNs) based on chitosan, itaconic acid and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) were prepared characterized. was dissolved order to obtain ionic crosslinking with the dicarboxylic acid. second step, chitosan/itaconic network mixed PVA chemically crosslinked glutaraldehyde. The ratio kept constant, while concentrations of glutaraldehyde varied. All samples...

Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO 2 ) technology was used for preparation of functional pH sensitive chitosan‐based aerogels characterized with micron size pores and their impregnation thymol as a natural bioactive substance. Hydrogels based on chitosan, itaconic methacrylic acids were transformed to alcogels dried in the air or scCO obtain xero‐ aerogels, respectively. Applying 10 min static 120 dynamic drying at 11 MPa 45°C followed decompression rate 1 MPa/min yielded an advantageous...

The application of poly(acrylamide‐ co ‐sodium methacrylate) hydrogel for the removal Cu 2+ and Cd ions from aqueous solutions has been investigated as a function pH, adsorbent dose temperature. FTIR spectra showed that –NH 2 –COOH groups are involved in both metal adsorption which followed pseudo‐first order kinetics. Non‐linear regression analysis six isotherms, Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich‐Peterson, Toth, Dubinin‐Radushkevich Sips, have applied to sorption data, while best interpretation...

An interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) based on the sodium alginate (A) and partially neutralized poly(methacrylic acid) (MAA) was prepared by free radical polymerization followed additional cross‐linking of with calcium ions. Obtained material (A/MAA IPN) characterized FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, rheological measurements. Swelling behavior synthetized IPN has been also investigated. TiO 2 nanoparticles (TiO NPs) were immobilized onto A/MAA...
