We present laboratory rotational spectroscopy of five isomers cyanoindene (2-, 4-, 5-, 6-, and 7-cyanoindene) using a cavity Fourier-transform microwave spectrometer operating between 6-40 GHz. Based on these measurements, we report the detection 2-cyanoindene (1H-indene-2-carbonitrile; 2-C$_9$H$_7$CN) in GOTHAM line survey observations dark molecular cloud TMC-1 Green Bank Telescope at centimeter wavelengths. Using combination Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), spectral stacking, matched...

Based on a novel laboratory method, 14 mm-wave lines of the molecular ion H$_2$CCCH$^+$ have been measured in high resolution, and spectroscopic constants this asymmetric rotor determined with accuracy. Using Yebes 40 m IRAM 30 radio telescopes, we detect four towards cold dense core TMC-1. Abstract The low-temperature reaction between CN and benzene (C 6 H ) is of significant interest in the astrochemical community due to recent detection benzonitrile, first aromatic molecule identified interstellar medium (ISM) using radio astronomy. Benzonitrile suggested be a proxy for benzene, one simplest molecules, which may precursor polycyclic hydrocarbons. In order assess robustness benzonitrile as kinetics measurements are required confirm whether remains rapid at low gas...

Experimental studies of the products elementary gas-phase chemical reactions occurring at low temperatures (<50 K) are very scarce, but importance for fundamental reaction dynamics, comparisons with high-level quantum dynamical calculations, and, in particular, providing data modeling cold astrophysical environments, such as dense interstellar clouds, atmospheres outer planets, and cometary comae. This study describes construction testing a new apparatus designed to measure product...

A Monte Carlo simulation method is used to study thermal desorption of gas molecules from mixed adlayers containing two species. The effects lateral interactions among adatoms on the spectra are discussed. It shown that attractive lead sharper peaks and occurs at high temperatures, whereas repulsive multiple peak spectra. found between unlike affect for species with lower energy only, desorb together only in certain cases. Lateral also kinetics significantly very different behaviour may be obtained.

AbstractThe antisymmetric C–H stretching vibration ν3 (2Π←2Π) of ionised acetylene, C2H2+, has been revisited using a cryogenic 22-pole ion trap machine. Two action spectroscopic techniques, the novel leak-out spectroscopy (LOS) method and more established laser-induced reactions (LIR) method, are applied compared. Mass selectivity temperatures down to 4 K enabled observation uncontaminated spectra in which Λ-doubling components this open-shell molecule mostly well resolved, leading slight...

Methanol (CH3OH) is considered by astronomers to be the simplest complex organic molecule (COM) and has been detected in various astrophysical environments, including protoplanetary disks, comets, interstellar medium (ISM). Studying reactivity of methanol at low temperatures will aid our understanding formation other potentially prebiotic molecules. A major destruction route for many neutral COMs, methanol, via their reactions with radicals such as CN, which ubiquitous space. Here, we study...

Reactive desorption of gas molecules from mixed adlayers containing two species is studied using a Monte Carlo simulation scheme. The effects lateral interactions among adatoms, adsorbate islanding, surface diffusion and initial coverage on the spectra are examined. Results show that for attractive interactions, islanding lead to an increase in activation energy, whereas repulsive energy decreases. also indicate slowly decaying spectrum may be obtained when mobile do not interact with other...
