In this study, the fatigue properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite laminates were investigated, specifically focusing on incorporation 100-µm polysulfone (PSU) nanofibers as an interleaving material. The PSU produced using electrospinning technique. Both quasi-static and tests conducted both reference specimens modified to evaluate their mode-I performance. results revealed 85% increase in fracture toughness (GIC) under testing. plots a noteworthy reduction crack...
This paper investigates low-velocity impact response of Quasi Isotropic (QI) hybrid carbon/glass fiber reinforced polymer composites with alternate stacking sequences. Cross-ply woven carbon and glass fibers were used as reinforcing materials to fabricate sandwiched interlayer composites. For comparison, the laminates containing only-carbon only-glass also studied. Drop weight test was samples. The images captured by a normal camera demonstrated that localized damages (delamination) existed...
Abstract This study investigates the potential of PVDF (polyvinyldiene fluoride) piezoelectric polymer material as a strain/load sensor for engineering structures. The can be made in any shape/size and are flexible. In addition, is passive offers advantage requiring no power to function. sensors were bonded an aluminum specimen representative structure voltage output was found vary linearly with applied tensile load. paper evaluates possibility make develop cheap, reliable efficient...
Barely visible impact damage (BVID) occurs in composite laminates subjected to low-velocity impact. They can then exhibit significant effect on mechanical performance of laminates. Previously, it is shown, analytically and experimentally, that BVID at a critical energy level below this there no induced damage. However, repeated may cause even the level. This paper novel investigation deals with cyclic behaviour quasi-isotropic glass/epoxy laminated composites under indentation, which...
Joints and interfaces are one of the key aspects design production composite structures. This paper investigates effect adhesive–adherend interface morphology on mechanical behavior wavy-lap joints with aim to improve performance. Intentional deviation from a flat joint plane was introduced in different bond angles (0°, 60°, 90° 120°) were subjected quasi-static tensile load. Comparisons made regarding conventional wavy joints. The visible failure modes that occurred within each...
