Purpose Data suggest that DNA damage by poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibition and/or reduced vascular endothelial growth factor signaling receptor may complement antitumor activity of immune checkpoint blockade. We hypothesize the programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor, durvalumab, olaparib, or cediranib combinations are tolerable and active in recurrent women's cancers. Patients Methods This phase I study tested durvalumab doublets parallel 3 + dose escalations. Durvalumab was...
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic. Since then, government agencies have taken significant measures to contain spread of coronavirus, imposing aggressive such as travel bans and shelters-in-place. While these efforts flattened curve curtailed virus, they also produced negative collateral effects on economy medical education. Tens thousands third-year students across United States were abruptly frozen in their progress choosing...
Timely reporting of CTA exams impacts management acute vascular pathology such as large vessel occlusions, arterial dissection, and ruptured aneurysm well a variety non-vascular pathologies. In this study, we examine potential modifiable factors impacting the timeliness performed in stroke code activations. Observational study head neck at single health system (3 emergency departments, 1550 inpatient beds) over four years (1/1/2019-12/31/2023). Patient age, patient sex, care setting, time...
We review the way in which atomic tetrahedra composed of metallic elements pack naturally into fused icosahedra. Orthorhombic, hexagonal, and cubic intermetallic crystals based on this packing are all shown to be united having pseudo-fivefold rotational diffraction symmetry. A unified geometric model involving 600-cell is presented: accounts for observed symmetries among different Bravais lattice types. The vertex-, edge-, polygon-, cell-centered fused-icosahedral clusters. Vertex-centered...
Abstract Background: Olaparib (OLA) is a PARP inhibitor approved for use in deleterious germline BRCA mutated recurrent or refractory ovarian cancer. Combining OLA with carboplatin (CARBO) could have additive effects based on platinum-DNA adducts requiring DNA repair. Preclinical data suggest greater cytotoxicity when CARBO given prior to OLA. However, the optimal treatment sequence of these agents has not been studied previously patients. We therefore investigated: 1) pharmacokinetics (PK)...
