We propose a new method for detecting the onset of stretch reflex response assessment spasticity based on Tonic Stretch Reflex Threshold (TSRT). Our strategy relies three-stage approach to detect EMG activity: (i) Reduction baseline activity by means Empirical Mode Decomposition; (ii) Extraction complex envelope signal Hilbert Transform (HT) and; iii) A double threshold decision rule. Simulated and real data were used evaluate compare our (TSRT-EHD) against three other popular methods...

The muscle designated by a group of authors as the sphenomandibular or, according to recent studies, deep bundle temporal muscle, presents important anatomical relationships, especially in medical-odontological context. In view this divergence, aim present study was observe morphology means dissection formaldehyde-preserved heads, using two different techniques access region question, trans-zygomatic and frontal routes. The results permitted, observation dissections frontally, presence...

The neural compression syndromes peripheral upper limb are common in clinical medicine and the causes range from trauma occupational factors.Technical evaluation manuals as tension at different positions of well knowledge topography affected nerve essential for accurate diagnosis. The objective this study was to analyze behavior median limb.Fifteen formalin-fixed cadavers were used morphometric topographic right limb.In all cases analyzed, originated lateral medial fascicles brachial plexus...

DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1980-0037.2016v18n1p1 Although it is a widely used resource for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, immobilization causes deleterious effects in muscle tissue after short period time. This study aimed to evaluate gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior muscles obese protein malnourished animals under joint condition. Overall, 28 adult male mice were (C57 / BL6), being divided into four groups (N = 7): Control Group (CG), Immobilized (ICG), Obese (IOG)...

In the present study, we aimed at evaluating steadiness of incisal bite force during isometric contractions masticatory muscles. Two separate experiments were carried out in 11 healthy young women. A first experiment was performed to test reliability our protocol for measurement steadiness. The second evaluate four submaximal (i.e., percentage maximum voluntary contraction, MVC) levels (5 %MVC, 10 15 and 20 %MVC), along with bilateral myoelectric activity two muscles (temporalis masseter).The...

Introduction: The immobilization induces an unbalanced bone metabolism, followed by rapid loss and consequent of the mechanical function bone. In general, obesity protein malnutrition conditions affect a large number people worldwide, both morbidities have specific characteristics that may cause deleterious effects on tissues patients different mechanisms. Objective: present study aimed to verify experimentally if joint protocol causes tissue atrophy in obese undernourished animals. Method:...
