Summary Two morphotypes of multicellular magnetotactic prokaryotes ( MMPs ) have been identified: spherical (several species) and ellipsoidal (previously one species). Here, we report novel that are ∼ 10 × 8 μm in size, composed about 86 cells arranged six to eight interlaced circles. Each MMP was synthesized either bullet‐shaped magnetite magnetosomes alone, or both rectangular greigite magnetosomes. They showed north‐seeking magnetotaxis, ping‐pong motility negative phototaxis at a...
To date, subchromatin structure-based quantification of epigenetic DNA modifications is limited. Matrix attachment regions (MARs), an important structure, contain elements that specifically bind chromatin to the nuclear matrix in eukaryotes and are involved a number diseases. Here, we exploited high-salt extraction-based fractionation approach for isolation MAR other fractions further developed heavy stable isotope-diluted ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry...
Novel large, rod-shaped magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) were discovered in intertidal sediments of the Yellow Sea, China. They biomineralized more than 300 rectangular magnetite magnetosomes per cell. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that they are affiliated with Alphaproteobacteria and may represent a new genus MTB.
ABSTRACT Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is an important respiratory pathogen that can cause porcine contagious pleuropneumonia (PCP), resulting in significant economic losses swine industry. Microorganisms are subjected to drastic changes environmental osmolarity. In order alleviate the rise or fall of osmolarity, cells activate mechanosensitive channels MscL and MscS through tension changes. not only regulates osmotic pressure but also has been reported secrete protein uptake...
