We present radial velocities and metallicities for a sample of 39 open clusters with ages greater than about 700 million years. For 24 new moderate-resolution spectroscopic data obtained multiobject spectrographs on the Kitt Peak National Observatory Cerro Tololo Inter-American 4 m telescopes are used to determine mean cluster metallicities. These results combined published previously by Friel & Janes provide 459 giants in old clusters, which investigate abundance gradients Galactic disk....
We present a CCD photometric survey of the central one-half degree old open cluster, M67, in U, B, V, and I colors to magnitude V = 20. Extensive comparison our photometry with other published datasets shows excellent agreement, indicating that is capable producing uniform set measurements consistent system defined primarily by Landolt standard sequence. The vast majority of open clusters persist as for no more than a few hundred million years, but the which survive much longer periods constitute unique sample probing evolution galactic disk. The XO project's first objective is to find hot Jupiters transiting bright stars (i.e., V<12) by precision differential photometry. Two cameras have been operating since 2003 September on the 10,000 foot Haleakala summit Maui. Each camera consists of a 200 mm f/1.8 lens coupled 1024 × pixel, thinned CCD operated drift‐scanning. In its year routine operation, has observed 6.6% sky within six 7° wide strips scanned from 0° +63° declination and centered at R.A. = 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 hr....

In an extensive charge coupled devices (CCD) photometric survey of potential old open clusters, we have identified a number systems that are indeed old; some them among the oldest clusters. Using our versions two well-known morphological age indices, one based on luminosity difference between main sequence turnoff and horizontal branch other color giant branch, ranked clusters in approximate order age. Our data together with previously published photometry yields catalogue 72 Hyades or older...
A planet transits an 11th magnitude, G1V star in the constellation Corona Borealis. We designate XO-1b, and star, XO-1, also known as GSC 02041-01657. XO-1 lacks a trigonometric distance; we estimate it to be 200+-20 pc. A system of weigths corresponding to the precision open cluster data is described. Using these weights, some properties clusters can be studied more accurately than was possible earlier. The star XO-5 (GSC 02959-00729, V=12.1, G8V) hosts a Jupiter-sized, Rp=1.15+/-0.12 Rjup, transiting extrasolar planet, XO-5b, with an orbital period of P=4.187732+/-0.00002 days. planet mass (Mp=1.15+/-0.08 Mjup) and surface gravity (gp=22+/-5 m/s^2) are significantly larger than expected by empirical Mp-P Mp-P-[Fe/H] relationships.
