The microwave spectrum of oxygen difluoride has been thoroughly investigated in the frequency regions 8 to 40 and 49 60 kMc. A total 83 absorption lines have assigned as ground-state rotational transitions which angular momentum J ranges from 1 39. These data provide means for a critical test Kivelson—Wilson theory centrifugal distortion. It is found that K—W energy expression only approximately accounts measurements. formula obtains when (1) separation rotation vibration carried out...
The collective free-electron laser interaction has been studied at millimeter wavelengths using a newly designed experimental apparatus which features an electron beam of low emittance. Measurements in superradiant amplifier configuration indicate the production 35 MW \ensuremath{\sim}4 mm with efficiency 2.5%. parametric dependence power thresholds and wavelength on pump guide magnetic fields are shown to be agreement theory.

A model of the self-fields associated with charge density and current electron beam is incorporated into three-dimensional nonlinear formulations interaction in free-electron lasers for both planar helical wiggler configurations. The assumes existence a cylindrically symmetric flat-top profile uniform axial velocity, self-electric self-magnetic fields are determined from Poisson’s equation Ampère’s law. Diamagnetic paramagnetic effects due field neglected; hence, breaks down when...
We report first operation in the terahertz regime of a cylindrical grating Smith-Purcell free-electron laser. Propagation an annular electron beam proximity to causes strong bunching due beam-surface wave interaction. Electromagnetic radiation results from (fundamental) and, at bunch harmonics, effect. In experiment, over 2.5 kW was generated 100 GHz and W 200 (Smith-Purcell). The illustrate potential this configuration for generation high-power radiation.

Over the past year, a collaborative effort between Advanced Energy Systems and Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique/Centre d'Etudes Scientifiques et Techniques d'Aquitaine has achieved first lasing of cylindrical Smith-Purcell free-electron laser (CSPFEL). These proof-of-principle experiments employed an 80-keV 45-A 200-ns full-width at half-maximum thin annular electron beam propagating just above grating. The interaction with evanescent grating mode resulted in strong bunching generation...
A flexible algorithm for the accurate computation of off-axis magnetic fields coils in cylindrical geometry is presented. The method employs a partial power series decomposition Laplace's equation about symmetry axis where coefficients are derivatives field along axis. computing high order analytic four "basic" coil types (loop, annular disk, thin solenoid, and full coil) will be demonstrated. Utilizing these derivatives, highly can calculated basic types. For ideal current loops, errors...
The design of a 10 MW, 1.3-GHz annular beam klystron for accelerator applications has been analyzed in detail and optimized. Concerns about the diocotron instability were addressed by simulations, which showed growth to be negligible. calculated efficiency is 66%.
The authors describe a technique that utilizes the fast heating rates (106K∕s) of microhotplate sensor along with calibrated thermal desorption system to determine initial coverage and kinetic parameters using isothermal on millisecond time scale. Models for including both pumping rate effects are presented zero, first, second order kinetics. Analysis first model illustrates domain desorption, speed, constants permit be estimated from mass spectrometer signal. is demonstrated temperature...
A G-band free-electron laser designed for plasma heating is described using a coaxial hybrid iron (CHI) wiggler formed by insertion into solenoid of central rod and an outer ring alternating ferrite nonferrite spacers positioned so that the (nonferrite) are opposite (ferrite) spacers. The CHI provides enhanced beam focusing ability to handle intense beams high-power continuous wave radiation. Simulations indicate power/efficiency 3.5 MW/13% possible 690 kV/40 beam. No loss was found in simulation.
The microwave spectrum of carbamyl fluoride, H214N12COF, has been studied. rotational constants are A = 11 304.39 Mc/sec, B 176.14 and C 5616.06 Mc/sec. quadrupole coupling have determined from the splittings low-J transitions. These eQqm −4.05 Mc/sec η=−0.165. Two components dipole moment were μa 3.33 D μb 2.31 D. No excited-state was observed.
Magnetically-actuated micromachined scanning mirrors have been developed for pico-projectors using laser beam (LBS). The human vision system readily detects imperfections in a LBS display, which become objectionable when scanned trajectory errors amplitudes on the order of only parts per thousand, depending system's sensitivity to type error and whether it is static or dynamic. paper describes overcoming such challenges achieve high quality projection.
