Marine pelagic diazotrophic cyanobacteria of the genus Trichodesmium (Oscillatoriales) are widespread throughout tropics and subtropics, particularly common in waters New Caledonia. Blooms suspected to be a potential source toxins ciguatera food chain were previously reported contain several types paralyzing toxins. The toxicity water-soluble extracts spp. analyzed by mouse bioassay Neuroblastoma assay their toxic compounds characterized using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass...

The insecticidal activity of essential oils from 52 Bolivian plant species has been evaluated on Aedes aegypti larvae. active components showing an interesting larvicidal effect have studied. monoterpenes E-anethol and E-nerolidol were found to be the principles most toxic oils. lethal concentrations (LC50 LC95) some oils, E-anethol, a reference insecticide (Temephos) are given. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract The Commission on Spatial Data Standards of the International Cartographic Association is working to define formal models and technical characteristics Infrastructures (SDI). To date, this work has been restricted Enterprise Information Viewpoints from ISO Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing standard. developed these two viewpoints. Multidimensional databases have been designed to provide decision makers with the necessary tools help them understand their data. This framework is different from transactional data as datasets contain huge volumes of historicized and aggregated defined over a set dimensions that can be arranged through multiple levels granularities. Many proposed query navigate granularity. However, automatic are still missing mine this type in order discover regular specific patterns. In article, we...

Ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP), a disease caused by consuming that have accumulated ciguatoxins (CTXs) in their tissue, is regarded as the most prevalent form of intoxication French Polynesia. Recently, Australes, one least affected archipelago until early 1980s, has shown dramatic increase its incidence rates 2009 with unusual CFP cases. In present work, potential health hazards associated proliferation various marine phytoplankton species and consumption invertebrates highly popular among...

Four new dimeric pyrrole-2-aminoimidazole alkaloids have been isolated from the Pacific marine sponges Agelas cf. mauritiana and Phakellia sp. They include unusual C2 symmetrical benzosceptrins A (4) B (5), which each possess a unique benzocyclobutane skeleton nagelamides S (6) T (7). Their structures relative configuration were elucidated spectroscopic data. Plausible biogenetic paths for these compounds are also proposed in this paper.

Xestospongin B, a macrocyclic bis-1-oxaquinolizidine alkaloid extracted from the marine sponge Xestospongia exigua, was highly purified and tested for its ability to block inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP(3))-induced Ca(2+) release. In concentration-dependent manner xestospongin B displaced [(3)H]IP(3) both rat cerebellar membranes skeletal myotube homogenates with an EC(50) of 44.6 +/- 1.1 microM 27.4 microM, respectively. depending on dose, suppressed bradykinin-induced signals in...

Reported here is the first polyarsenic compound ever found in nature. Denominated arsenicin A, it was isolated along a bioassay-guided fractionation of organic extract poecilosclerid sponge Echinochalina bargibanti collected from north-eastern coast New Caledonia. In defining an adamantine-type structure for this compound, deceptively simple NMR spectra were complemented by extensive mass spectral analysis. However, only synthesis model that provided basis to discriminate 4 other spectrally...
