ABSTRACT ∙ Birds have received special attention in urban areas. Due to their conspicuousness and quick response habitat changes, they perfectly fit the requirements as a bioindicator group. In this study, we assessed relationships between urbanization intensity vegetation characteristics bird richness greenspaces of Federal University São Carlos, Paulo, Brazil. We found significant positive relationship exotic tree abundance maximum height, species richness; but no interaction effect...
In natural and altered environments, the Ecosystem Services (ES) provided by presence of vegetation, especially regulating ES such as climate regulation air pollutant removal, are essential to improve human health well-being. this study, we focused on a tropical-subtropical river basin which covers urban, peri-urban rural landscape types Brazilian municipality located in ecotone between Atlantic Forest Cerrado (Brazilian savannah). The research aimed assess current state bird richness (as...
Abstract Birds play a key role in ecosystem dynamics, including urban and rural areas, bringing environmental quality improvements ecological stability. Species contribute directly to natural regeneration of vegetation succession processes, by offering services as seed dispersal, an important human-modified areas. We studied the assemblages fruit-eating birds riparian environments Monjolinho basin, central São Paulo state, southeastern Brazil. were recorded 41 points distributed ecosystems...
Since colonial times, Brazilian land use has been made under an extractivist model at the expense of deforestation, increasing soil and vegetation depletion, stream siltation, as well loss biodiversity. An ecological-economic zoning (EEZ) taken feasible alternative to guide public policies aimed city land-use planning. This study focused on designing EZZ for Altinópolis, in São Paulo state (Brazil), by means geographical information systems (GIS). Information maps delineated six areas, which...
The diversity and spatial distribution of trees on the Federal University São Carlos campus were analyzed. Eighty percent total individuals studied area visited 130 species belonging to 106 genres 46 families founded, which 51 are native region 79 exotic species. A satisfactory was found (H'= 3.89) for an urbanized area. Although study reveals low dominance species, results indicate a same individuals' aggregation, all with highest abundance have aggregated distribution. number present is...
