Comparison of sarcoid uveitis with other non-infectious treatment and visual outcomes.Retrospective study 287 eyes 1517 (15,029 eye-years follow-up).Sarcoid patients presented at age 43.1 ± 0.8 years, 66.2% were female. Panuveitis was the most frequent presentation (48.3%), 90.1% bilateral. Moderate loss (≤20/50) developed in 19 (6.6%), severe (≤20/200) 13 (4.5%). Sarcoid had better outcomes than (10-year BCVA anterior 0.06 vs 0.24 p = .002; posterior disease 0.17 0.38 .001). Oral...
Cataract is one of the most common complications associated with uveitis, and leading cause vision loss in these patients. The study aimed to evaluate effect phacoemulsification on long-term clinical outcome inflammation control uveitis patients.Longitudinal study.Of 1907 eyes 309 underwent were compared a group 300 phakic uveitis. The risk macular oedema pseudophakic group. The rates corticosteroids administration relapse also measured preoperative period.Change activity post by measuring...
Background: Examining the effect of antibiotic resistance, use intravitreal antibiotics and systemic corticosteroids on visual outcome eyes with acute endophthalmitis. Methods: We included 226 endophthalmitis, treated using a standardized protocol. Visual up to 12 months was assessed related biopsy results, resistance treatment regimens. Results: Vitreous biopsies were more likely be culture-positive (41.1%) than anterior chamber (21.6%, p < 0.0001). Antibiotic for amikacin found in 19...
Introduction: Inflammatory choroidal neovascularization (iCNV) is a significant complication of uveitis, leading to vision loss in many cases. Recent advances retinal imaging and the use anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents, have led early diagnose treatment, preventing visual deterioration.Areas covered: This review discusses epidemiology, pathogenesis, conditions that are complicated by iCNV. We further describe diagnosis methods treatment approaches iCNV.Expert opinion:...
