Objectives: Identification of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in testicular germ cell tumors (GCTs) is a challenging yet important aspect cancer staging that can alter therapeutic management. Our study aimed to identify pathologic features affect the reporting LVI. Methods: Pathology report and slide review orchiectomies performed at our institution between 2007 2013 for GCTs were performed. Results: Seminomas grossed by residents had higher rate reported LVI compared with specimens pathology...
Hydrophilic polymer coatings are now widely applied to catheters and other intravascular devices used in neurovascular, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular procedures. Emboli consisting of these materials have been previously identified biopsies autopsies following pulmonary infarction, stroke, gangrene, or death. We report a case involving nonhealing foot ulcer that appeared cardiac catheterization, stenting, automatic implanted defibrillator (AICD) implantation patient without evidence...
True intrathoracic subclavian artery aneurysms (SCAAs) are rare and have various etiologies. Right SCAAs pose specific anatomic challenges to repair. We present three different operative approaches, open, endovascular, hybrid repair, for the repair of a right SCAA in patients with genetic arteriopathy: Marfan syndrome, vascular Ehlers-Danlos unspecified respectively. These cases demonstrate an individualized approach based on diagnosis each patient presenting SCAA.
Endovascular embolization of visceral arteries is commonly performed as treatment for aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, and emboloradiation liver tumors; while considered relatively safe, it not without complications. We are reporting 2 cases coil migration into the gastrointestinal tract. Patients were successfully managed endoscopic or surgical removal. followed after discharge noted to have no further complications from their migrated coils. These highlight success expectant management...
Inguinal ultrasound (US) has a high sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of inguinal hernias but is often performed unnecessarily, adding cost time to treatment. The aim our study was assess rate necessity US before clinical examination by hernia surgeon. Medical records patients referred an from April through July 2017 were reviewed. These cases analyzed patient demographics, physical (PE) findings, previsit imaging, health-care system surgeon, case outcome. Twenty-nine per cent...
This is a report of case acute-on-chronic inferior vena cava thrombosis 10 years following blunt abdominal trauma from motor vehicle collision. Although more common risk factors for this pathology include anatomical variation or the long-standing presence an filter, history serves as rare etiology. Fewer than 20 cases have been reported in literature, and most describe presentation within weeks inciting trauma. The lengthy time to diagnosis given substantial reconstitution circulation by...
Abstract Coarctation of the aorta is a rare finding in adults and can present with vague symptoms. We report case 64-year-old cognitively impaired female who presented fatigue tinnitus. After extensive workup, she was diagnosed coarctation subsequently underwent repair. operative intervention for her coarctation, cognitive impairment found to have an objective improvement evidenced by Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
