Artificial cells capable of both sensing and sending chemical messages to bacteria have yet be built. Here we show that artificial are able sense synthesize quorum signaling molecules can chemically communicate with V. fischeri, harveyi, E. coli, P. aeruginosa. Activity was assessed by fluorescence, luminescence, RT-qPCR, RNA-seq. Two potential applications for this technology were demonstrated. First, the extent which could imitate natural quantified a type cellular Turing test. in response...

Based on UV-Vis, NMR, and EPR spectroscopies DFT molecular dynamics calculations, a model prebiotic [2Fe-2S] tripeptide was shown to accept donate electrons. Duplications of the sequence led protoferredoxin with increased stability. primitive peptides may have contributed formation contemporary ferredoxins.

Model prebiotic dipeptide sequences were identified by bioinformatics and DFT molecular dynamics calculations. The peptides then synthesized evaluated for metal affinity specificity. Cysteine containing dipeptides not associated with affinities that followed the Irving-Williams series but did follow concentration trends found in seawater.

A new R tool is described that rapidly identifies, ranks, and clusters sequence patterns coordinated to metallocofactors. This tool, PdPDB, fills a void because, unlike currently available tools, PdPDB searches through sequences with metal coordination as the primary determinant can identify consisting of amino acids, nucleotides, small molecule ligands at once. was tested by analyzing structures coordinate Fe2+/3+, [2Fe-2S], [4Fe-4S], Zn2+, Mg2+ cofactors. confirmed previously identified...

Dbl family Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factors (RhoGEFs) play a central role in cell biology by catalyzing the of guanosine 5′-triphosphate for 5′-diphosphate (GDP) on RhoA. Insights into oncogenic constitutive activity Lbc RhoGEF were gained analyzing structure and dynamics protein different functional states comparison with close homologue, leukemia-associated RhoGEF. Higher intrinsic flexibility, less dense extended network, stable allosteric communication pathways Lbc, compared to...

In the context of ongoing energy transition, electrical power system will undergo a significant infrastructure and management evolution. The progressive decarbonisation with decommissioning synchronous generation units, in face massive penetration from Renewable Energy Sources (RES), requires new challenges for global Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Main issues are related to sharply decreasing inertia, lowering short-circuit levels, reduction voltage regulation reactive systems,...
