Using a simple π-conjugated trimer, EDOT–phenylene–EDOT (EDOT = 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), we evaluate the effect that fluorine substituents have upon changes in conformation, conjugation, and oxidation potentials structures. These variations are assessed as function of atom's propensity to feature hydrogen and/or halogen bonding with other heteroatoms. The molecular motif was chosen because EDOT unit presents possibility competing O···X or S···X noncovalent contacts (where X H F). Such...

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is a material that has become ubiquitous in the field of organic electronics. It most commonly used as hole transport layer (HTL) optoelectronic devices and can be purchased commercially various formulations with different properties. Whilst it convenient to work with, there are stability issues associated PEDOT:PSS detrimental device these due acidic nature PSS component. In this paper, we present molecular, non-acidic...

A novel π-conjugated molecule, EtH-T-DI-DTT is reported, which fused, rigid, and planar, featuring the electron-rich dithieno[3,2- b :2’,3’- d ]thiophene (DTT) unit in core of structure. Adjacent to electron-donating DTT core, there are indenone units with electron-withdrawing keto groups. To enable solubility common organic solvents, fused system flanked by ethylhexylthiophene The material a dark, amorphous solid an onset absorption at 638 nm CH 2 Cl solution, corresponds optical gap 1.94...
