Perinatal asphyxia remains one of the most devastating neurologic processes. There is experimental and clinical evidence that cerebral cooling may suppress biochemical cascades leading to delayed damage. To determine if hypothermia started soon after delivery reduces damage in term infants.Retrospective chart analysis with historical controls. Ten asphyxiated newborns treated between October 1998 1999 were compared 11 admitted from September 1997 1998. Characteristics at birth infants two...

All mothers stable ARV therapy. Viral load, CD4+ count blood (Hb) concentrations before delivery collected from all their infants. Methods: patients enrolled at Department Paediatrics, AO FBF Sacco Hospital in Milan, followed...

Multiportal thoracoscopic approach is already a well standardized procedure for minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE); conversely very few reports have been published about uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) technique till now. We present our preliminary experience with VATS esophagectomy, evaluating short-term outcomes as perioperative mortality, complications, oncological radicality, postoperative pain and cosmetic results. From December 2016 to November 2017, the...

We report a case of neonatal withdrawal syndrome after in utero exposure to paroxetine 20 mg/day. The infant’s symptoms, such as poor adaptation, respiratory distress, decerebrate posturing, irritability and tremors, commenced soon birth persisted for 5 days. All neonates exposed antidepressants, particularly serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), during the last trimester should be followed-up closely adverse symptoms.

The patient presented with severe abdominal pain recent onset, pitting edema the legs, renal failure wall thickening suggestive mesenteric on CT scan. Early laparoscopy allowed rule out proximal necrosis resection was avoided. successfully managed corticosteroid therapy repeated hemodialysis sessions.

Abstract: Bronchogenic cysts (BCs) are the most common benign cystic lesions in mediastinum, 15–25% of cases originating from pulmonary parenchyma. It is often found incidentally as it mostly asymptomatic until its growth size and compression surrounding structures, causing tachycardia, dysphagia, dyspnea, cough chest pain or complication (with symptoms such fever, dyspnea sputum production if cyst communicates with a bronchus). In this paper we present case 68-year-old female patient...

Perforation is defined as full-thickness tear in the esophageal wall due to trauma on lumen or sudden increase of endoluminal pressure, like spontaneous perforations. Esophageal diverticulum is a rare disease caused by impaired esophageal motility. It may present with disorders like pain, heartburn, dysphagia, episodes of food regurgitation and halitosis, but often the patients are asymptomatic. Diagnosis based on esophagogram barite meal, gastroscopy manometry. The diverticula can be classified according to site onset in esophagus: distal third (epiphrenic, 20%), mediothoracic or mediastinal (10%) proximal (Zenker diverticula, 70%). Traditionally,...
