We report on the first experimental demonstration of enantioselective rotational control chiral molecules with a laser field. In our experiments, two enantiomers propylene oxide are brought to accelerated unidirectional rotation by means an optical centrifuge. Using Coulomb explosion imaging, we show that centrifuged acquire preferential orientation perpendicular plane rotation, and direction this depends relative handedness enantiomer rotating centrifuge The observed effect is in agreement...

Abstract A water‐soluble cationic polythiophene derivative, poly[3‐(6‐{4‐ tert ‐butylpyridiniumyl}‐hexyl)thiophene‐2,5‐diyl] [P3(TBP)HT], is combined with anionic poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly( p ‐styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates via electrostatic layer‐by‐layer (eLbL) assembly. By varying the number of eLbL layers, electrode's work function precisely controlled from 4.6 to 3.8 eV. These polymeric coatings are used as cathodic interfacial modifiers...

Electrostatic layer-by-layer assembly was the basis for synthesis of multilayer nanorod/polymer composite films. Cationic and water-soluble CdSe nanorods (NRs) were synthesized partnered with anionic polymers including poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) two polythiophene-based photoactive polymers, sodium poly[2-(3-thienyl)-ethoxy-4-butylsulfonate (PTEBS) poly[3-(potassium-6-hexanoate)thiophene-2,5-diyl] (P3KHT). Controlled growth is shown through UV−vis spectroscopy, cross-sectional SEM...

The desorption of excited rubidium atoms off the surface helium nanodroplets is studied in detail using femtosecond time-resolved photoion and photoelectron imaging spectroscopy combination with quantum wave-packet simulations. good agreement measured time-dependent velocity distributions simulation when exciting Rb dopant into $6p$ state supports pseudodiatomic model for Rb-He droplet interaction, even on level dynamics. Time-resolved spectra reveal partitioning excitation energy degrees freedom.

The design of a single-mode interband cascade laser (ICL) using slotted waveguide is presented. This technique was explored as an inexpensive alternative to distributed feedback lasers since standard photolithography can be used in fabrication and complex techniques, such e-beam lithography, re-growth steps, and/or metal gratings, avoided. waveguides must carefully simulated before ensure the efficacy masks with each ICL growth. Limitations behavior key parameters are discussed. Single-mode...

This artwork is the result of a collaborative effort in art and science between artist, Dr. Patti Pente, scientist, Brian Worfolk. Inspired by discussions around nature visualizing data, Pente combined drawing with photographic schematic images from air-stable photovoltaic research described J. M. Buriak co-workers on page 361. The importance sense scale, which key component communicating nanotechnology to public, emphasized. energy sun imagined as both entering (later) exiting chip.

The first demonstration of single-mode behaviour interband cascade lasers (ICLs) using a slotted waveguide is presented. Side mode suppression ratios (SMSRs) between 10 – 15 dB are observed for temperatures 21.5°C injection currents near the maximum power output, before thermal rollover, and after this point. These measurements provide benchmark amount modulation refractive index in cladding required to interact with longitudinal cavity modes which needed extend range conditions single...
