The socio-economic need for service robots has become more evident during the ongoing pandemic. To boost their deployment, to improve manipulation capabilities, which includes solving one of biggest challenges: determine position and orientation target objects. While conventional approaches use markers require constant maintenance, deep-learning-based a host computer with high specifications. In this paper, we propose 6D-pose estimation system whose segmentation algorithm is embedded into...

In recent years, the labor shortage has become a significant problem in Japan and other countries due to aging societies. However, service robots can play decisive role relieving human workers by performing various household assistive tasks. Restroom cleaning is one of such challenging tasks that involve motion planning constrained restroom setting. this study, we propose mobile manipulator perform related cleaning. Our key contributions include system integration multiple tools on an arm...

Service robots, the class of robots that are designed to assist humans in their daily lives, needed retail industry compensate for labor shortage. To foster innovation, Future Convenience Store Challenge was created, where robotic systems manipulation food products tasked dispose expired and replenish shelves. We, as team NAIST-RITS-Panasonic, have developed a mobile manipulator with which we obtained 1st place past three editions challenge. In last edition, manipulated five types items...

We have developed a ROS-based mobile manipulator for restroom cleaning with the capability to recognize garbage of various types (pieces paper, cups, and liquids) select most appropriate tool from three tools (suction hold, vacuuming, moping) effectively clean restroom. Upon deployment at Future Convenience Store Challenge World Robot Summit 2020, we obtained 1st Place in Restroom Cleaning Task an almost perfect score (96%).
