Abstract High-Pressure Collaborative Access Team (HPCAT) is a synchrotron-based facility located at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). With four online experimental stations and various offline capabilities, HPCAT focused on providing synchrotron x-ray capabilities for high pressure temperature research supporting broad user community. Overall, array of online/offline described, including some recent developments remote support concomitant impact current pandemic. General overview work done...

The diamond anvil cell (DAC) has been widely used in high-pressure research. Despite significant progress over the past five decades, opposed geometry DAC inevitably leads to a disk-shaped sample configuration at high pressure. This intrinsic limitation is largely responsible for large pressure and temperature gradients DAC, which often compromise precise experiments their characterizations. We designed fabricated multi-axis (MDAC) by adopting concept of multi-anvil apparatus but using...

The Energy Saver Refrigeration System is based on the concept of a central helium liquefier (5000 l/hr) providing liquid to 24 satellite refrigerators (966 W at 4.6/degree/K), which operate as amplifiers with gain 12. This was tested, cooling two 125 m long strings superconducting magnets. test run using one refrigerator operating ''central liquefier'', shipping through 250 transfer line second refrigerator, in turn cooled In addition testing concept, heat loads magnets and were also...

The Advanced Photon Source (APS) storage ring vacuum chambers (SRVCs) are constructed of aluminum. chamber design incorporates aluminum alloy 2219-T87 Conflat flanges welded to an 6063-T5 extruded body. Vacuum connections the provided by 304 stainless steel flanges. To evaluate seal assemblies relative bake cycles, a conflat test assembly (CBTA) was constructed, and thermal cycling tests were performed between room temperature 150 degrees C on both assemblies. A Helicoflex (HBTA) similarly...

We have studied the Ce valence as a function of pressure in CeRhIn5 at 300 K and 22 using x-ray absorption spectroscopy partial fluorescent yield mode. At room temperature, we found no detectable change greater than 0.01 up to 5.5 GPa. K, remains robust against below 6 GPa, contrast predicted crossover P=2.35 This work yields an upper limit for Ce-valence suggests that critical fluctuation scenario, its current form, is unlikely.
