Actively growing folds can either have a propagating tip or be amplified in breadth through fixed tip. Whatever the growth mechanism, drainage network adapts to newly created tectonic slopes. Lithological resistance erosion, as well climate and uplift rates, exerts control on bedrock incision rates and, therefore, whether transverse river maintains its course finally is deflected. In southeastern Ecuador, northernmost end of Cutucú Uplift corresponds Macuma anticline, north-plunging...
Abstract The Quito Basin, a narrow NE‐trending tectonic depression, contains perched Quaternary volcaniclastic sequence juxtaposed against the Interandean Depression through fault system (QFS). Syntectonic infilling, which occurs during piggy‐back phase, consists of alluvial fan sets grading eastward into lacustrine facies. western piedmont margin overlies foothills volcanoes. Classic thrust models predict basinward propagation low‐angle thrusts ahead master faults. A magnetotelluric survey...
