Bacterial community structure and the effects of several environmental factors on bacterial distribution were investigated in sediment macrophyte-dominated algae-dominated areas a large, shallow, eutrophic freshwater lake (Lake Taihu, China). Surface samples collected at 6 sampling sites (3 from each 2 areas) 15 February August 2009. Based cluster analysis DGGE banding patterns, there significant seasonal variations macrophyte- areas, site-specific variation within an area between areas....
Abstract Background River damming inevitably reshapes water thermal conditions that are important to the general health of river ecosystems. Although a lot studies have addressed damming’s impacts, most them just assess overall effects climate variation and human activities on dynamics. Less attention has been given quantifying impact variation, flow regulation, respectively. In addition, for rivers already faced an erosion problem in downstream channels, adjustment hydroelectric power plant...
Water-energy nexus has been a popular topic of rese arch in recent years. The relationships between the demand for water resources and energy are intense closely connected urban areas. primary, secondary, tertiary industry gross domestic product (GDP), total population, annual precipitation, agricultural industrial consumption, tap supply, discharge wastewater, daily sewage treatment capacity, electricity consumption coal enterprises above designed size were chosen as input indicators. A...
Rivers and their tributaries sculpt the earth's surface, play an important role in substance circulation energy flow. Bacteria are involved most biogeochemical processes fluvial ecosystem; however, pattern distribution a river its has not yet been investigated detail. In present study, high-throughput sequencing was employed to examine bacterial communities co-occurrence networks between Kaidu River nine northwestern China. The results obtained demonstrated that both shared similar dominant...
The middle and lower Yangtze Plain is a typical floodplain in which many lakes connect with each other, especially the wet season. More importantly, frequent change of regional water level season, there mutual hydrodynamic exchange among these lakes. microbial biogeography interconnected still poorly understood. This study aims to unravel mechanisms underlying assembly process abundant rare bacteria Plain. Our findings will provide deeper understanding biogeographic patterns bacterial taxa...
To investigate the effects of different habitats and plant growth status on abundance, biomass community structure epiphytic microbes, Potamogeton malaianus Miq. at two (Gonghu Bay East Taihu) in Lake Taihu were collected June, August November (corresponding to period development submerged macrophytes). The relative abundance major algae groups was determined with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), structures dynamics bacteria assessed by terminal restriction fragment length...
To reveal the effects of water diversion from Yangtze River to Lake Taihu on phytoplankton habitat main transfer channel Wangyu River, we investigated water’s physicochemical parameters and communities during non-diversion periods over winters between 2014–2016, respectively. During in winter 2014 2015, nutrients organic pollutant contents were significantly lower than those period 2016. Moreover, diversities relative proportions Bacillariophyta evidently increased winter. The increase...
Abstract The effect of decomposition Microcystis blooms on the sediment bacterial communities was investigated in a 14‐day mesocosm experiments under dark and anoxic condition with three differing levels spp. biomass (from 20 to 2000 µg L −1 ) as measured by chlorophyll‐ (Chl‐ concentration water column. Sediment samples were collected days 0 14 for community composition (BCC) analysis, based rapid decreases Chl‐ BCC determined denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis sequencing predominant...
Oligosaline lakes in arid regions provide indispensable water resources for humans; however, information on the bacterial community composition (BCC) of this ecosystem is limited. In present study, we explored seasonal and vertical variations BCC Lake Bosten, a unique oligosaline lake (1.2‰ salinity) arid, northwestern China, using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis 16S rRNA gene sequencing. We obtained 544 clones 98 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) from six clone libraries. The top...
We analyzed the composition and diversity of a bacterial community to determine its response increasing salinity in Xiangsi Lake wetland arid region northwest China. studied 12 sites, ranging from freshwater saltwater habitats, using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) sequencing 16S rRNA genes 5 selected samples. Cluster analysis phylogenetic revealed that changed significantly increased within small-scale (50.8 km(2)). Detailed...
As one of the main driving forces limited...
To expand current knowledge on the molecular aspects of alkaline phosphatase PhoX in shallow eutrophic freshwaters, we investigated genetic diversity and abundance PhoX-encoding gene (phoX) 4 ecological regions Lake Taihu, China, following a gradient total phosphorus concentrations ranging from hypereutrophic to mesotrophic. Bacterial phoX was heterogeneously distributed with highest mesotrophic Xukou Bay. The enzymatically hydrolyzable determined distribution bacterial Taihu. Most (70.8%)...
