Plants respond with changes in their pattern of gene expression and protein products when exposed to low temperatures. Thus ability adapt has an impact on the distribution survival plant, crop yields. Many species tropical or subtropical origin are injured killed by non-freezing temperatures, exhibit various symptoms chilling injury such as chlorosis, necrosis, growth retardation. In contrast, tolerant able grow at cold Conventional breeding methods have met limited success improving...

Abiotic stresses collectively are responsible for crop losses worldwide. Among these, drought and salinity the most destructive. Different strategies have been proposed management of these stresses. Being a complex trait, conventional breeding approaches resulted in less success. Biotechnology has emerged as an additional novel tool deciphering mechanism behind The role compatible solutes abiotic stress tolerance studied extensively. Osmotic adjustment, at physiological level, is adaptive...

The implication of molecular biology in crop improvement is now more than three decades old. Not surprisingly, technology has moved on, and there are a number new techniques that may or not come under the genetically modified (GM) banner and, therefore, GM regulations. In cisgenic technology, cisgenes from crossable plants used it single procedure gene introduction whereby problem linkage drag other genes overcome. approach similar compared with classical breeding plant should be treated...

Development of crop varieties which are resistant against many economically important diseases is a major challenge for plant biotechnologists worldwide. Although much progress in this area has been achieved through classical genetic approaches, goal can be more selective and robust manner with the success engineering techniques. In regard, RNA interference (RNAi) emerged as powerful modality battling some most notoriously challenging caused by viruses, fungi bacteria. RNAi mechanism...

Genetic material in plants is distributed into nucleus, plastids and mitochondria. Plastid has a central role of carrying out photosynthesis plant cells. transformation becoming more popular an alternative to nuclear gene because various advantages like high protein levels, the feasibility expressing multiple proteins from polycistronic mRNAs, containment through lack pollen transmission. Recently, much progress plastid engineering been made. In addition model tobacco, many transplastomic...
