Motivated by the requirements of next generation experiments in terms very good time and position resolution high counting rate multiplicity environment, a new architecture differential, strip structure, symmetric, multi gap timing RPC was developed. The results on efficiency, resolution, performance environment using low resistivity glass electrodes are reported.

Deciphering the internal structure of prehistoric artefacts can provide spectacular insights that might help us understand people who made them. In order to preserve integrity these relics past civilisations, it is desirable make such investigations using non-destructive techniques. Recent decades have witnessed a growth in X-ray computed tomography (CT) applications study cultural heritage objects. This paper presents and discusses tomographic two Cucuteni ceramic statuettes discovered...

This paper reports the use of experimental archaeology and imaging methods—X-ray computed tomography (CT) radiography—that were employed to decipher manufacturing techniques Eneolithic clay artefacts. study was triggered by archaeological research conducted in some tell settlements Southeastern Romania that belong Kodjadermen-Gumelniţa-Karanovo VI culture (c. 4500–3900 BC). The findings reported here represent first accounts a recently started project, which has as its main goal re-creation...

In the recent years, fuel cells became more than a promise, getting closer to technological reality. Proton exchange membrane (PEM) used as electrolyte is valuable solution, and Nafion® seems be best competitor. This paper reports positron annihilation spectroscopy study of behavior employed proton in working cell. A continuous survey cell using lifetime coincidence Doppler broadening was conducted over 50‐day period, results these measurements are presented discussed. Copyright © 2015 John...

X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) is a powerful non-destructive technique that can yield interesting structural information not discernible through visual examination only. This paper presents the results of CT scans four objects belonging to Romanian cultural heritage attributed Vinča, Cucuteni and Cruceni-Belegiš cultures. The study was performed with an tomographic device developed at Department for Applied Nuclear Physics from Horia Hulubei National Institute Engineering in Măgurele,...

Two different polymer membranes, polyethylene and Nafion, have been sequentially implanted under vacuum at room temperature with 90 keV copper ions up to 10 17 ions/cm 2 ; after each implantation step, the targets were subjected analysis Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy coincidence Doppler broadening spectroscopy. Both membranes revealed a similar behavior regarding high fluence superficial implantation, but degree of magnitude. In order endorse Positrons results, scanning...

A polychrome and gilded wooden artifact was found, in a heavily deteriorated state, the stores of Mdina Cathedral Museum, Malta. The object represents two zoomorphic angels holding coat arms. Stylistically, matches with parts late 16 th century Organ balcony, currently exhibited at same Museum. present study aims to establish whether or not newly recovered might have formed part balcony ensemble by means material identification techniques. combined use XRF, FT-IR FT-Raman spectroscopy ensure...

This paper reports the results of operation, under active computer control, a high-voltage (400 kV) injector. The automation system uses microcomputer placed on deck ion source, which takes over some process control decisions, and master IBM-PC at ground potential. Various beams (p, H+2, H+3, d, He+, He2+) have been produced, proving reliability system. A maximum value 460 kV accelerating potential has reached during tests. beam fulfills requirements for operation room-temperature IH linac....
