Micropaleontological analyses of a sediment core raised in Disko Bugt (West Greenland) were undertaken order to document paleoceanographical changes the eastern Baffin Bay during Holocene. The modern analogue technique (MAT) applied dinocyst assemblages provided information on paleo-sea-surface conditions, whereas isotopic benthic foraminifers aimed at documenting ‘deep’ water mass occupying site. During earlier interval recorded (~10 ~7.3 cal. kyr BP), important discharge ice and meltwater...
Abstract Palynological analyses of sediment core MSM343310 from Disko Bugt (68°38′861°N, 53°49′493°W) document decadal‐ to centennial‐scale variability sea surface conditions during the last ~ 3,600 years. Dinocyst fluxes (>10 4 cysts/cm 2 yr −1 ) indicate a very high productivity. assemblages dominated by Islandinium minutum , Brigantedinium spp., ? cezare and cyst Pentapharsodinium dalei suggest low salinity marked shifts in summer temperature. The application modern analog technique...
Abstract This interdisciplinary study presents a human perspective on climatic variations by combining documentary, discursive, instrumental, and proxy data. Historical sources were used to characterize climate along the coast of Labrador/Nunatsiavut during 19 th century first half 20 century. Written early instrumental archives provided original information state perception before establishment meteorological stations, which permitted an intra-annual variations. depicted sensitivity humans...
• Historical archives are showing climatic variability in Nunavik. Sea-ice freeze-up and break-up respond to wind temperature conditions. climatology applied northern-eastern Canada. The Hudson's Bay Company provide relevant information.
Abstract Centennial‐to‐millennial temperature records of the past provide a context for interpretation current and future changes in climate. Quaternary climates have been relatively well studied north‐east North America adjacent Atlantic Ocean over last decades, new research methods developed to improve reconstructions. We present newly inferred reconstructions sea surface north‐western region, together with compilation published records. The database thus comprises total 86 from both...
