ABSTRACT Introduction Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common opportunistic infection in solid organ transplant patients. Intravenous CMV immunoglobulin (CMV‐IVIG) pharmacotherapy option with limited data within heart transplantation. At UCHealth, CMV‐IVIG was removed from the prophylaxis protocol July 2022. This study evaluated efficacy and cost outcomes of removal protocol. Methods single‐center, retrospective cohort recipients transplanted at UCHealth between October 2020 March 2023. Patients...

Patients with diabetes have an increased risk for allograft rejection, possibly related to peri-operative hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia is also common following transplantation in patients without diabetes. We hypothesise that exposure of tissue hyperglycaemia could influence the rejection any patient high sugars. To investigate relationship glucose control acute renal transplant diabetes, all receiving their first cadaveric graft a single center were surveyed and cyclosporin-based...

The aim of this study is to characterize cardiac remodeling in a large animal model hypertension.23 sheep were subjected unilateral nephrectomy followed by clamping the remaining renal artery 60% ("one kidney-one clip", 1K1C) 3 weeks later. Blood pressure (BP) was monitored invasively over 73+/-28 days. Cardiac function assessed with magnetic resonance imaging and compared 12 size-matched controls. Detailed atrial histopathological analysis performed. In 1K1C animals, BP rose from baseline...

Summary— Sixty per cent of men subjected to prostatectomy had unstable bladders. It was found that this related the presence either an indwelling catheter or obstruction, but little influence on result prostatectomy. The functional urethral pressure profile length did not correlate with size prostate gland. Shortening prostatic plateau always found, extent which reduced urine flow rates.

Sixty-one renal transplants have been performed on 54 patients, using eight kidneys from live donors and 53 cadaveric at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia, during a period of five half years. overall survival these patients is 61%, with graft 50% one year 41% two years, which compares favourably the world experience as well combined Australasian experience. post-transplant complications in this group are discussed.

Background:Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy was introduced into Australia in 1997 by this unit. However, some donors may be considered unsuitable, and few modifications to the existing technique can tailor procedure for an individual donor.
