Utilizing an apparatus for separately testing the status of anterior talofibular and calaneofibular ligaments ankle in 25 healthy, 15- to 30-year-old adults, it became apparent that stability depends primarily upon integrity ligament. When "fore n' aft" stress measurement exceeds 4 mm, a positive drawer test is elicited, ligament needs surgical repair. Tibial talar tilt normals ranged up 18 degrees. Repair (early late) accomplished by suturing what one finds (there always some present)...

Characteristic differences response serum inorganic phosphate intermediary compounds carbohydrate metabolism are demonstrated.

A directly reacting fraction of bilirubin that is probably covalently bound to albumin (albumin-bound bilirubin) has recently been described. To determine its clinical importance we used a new high-performance liquid-chromatography technique measure it in the serum 200 patients with hyperbilirubinemia from various causes. Albumin-bound was an important (8 90 per cent) total hepatocellular and cholestatic jaundice as well Dubin-Johnson syndrome. It not detected normal volunteers, neonates...

Abstract Atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) was applied to the determination of serum calcium. A special diluent developed abolish effect depressors. This made possible measurement calcium in directly diluted samples without prior removal any constituents. Values obtained by AAS on oxalate precipitates from were identical with those found direct dilution technique.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created a surgical wound classification system (SWC: I, clean; II, clean/contaminated; III, contaminated; IV, dirty) to preemptively identify patients at risk of site infection (SSI). validity this is yet be demonstrated in orthopaedic surgery. We hypothesize poor association between the SWC rate subsequent SSI trauma cases.Nine hundred fifty-six cases were reviewed. Wounds stratified intraoperatively using grades (I-IV). was diagnosed...

Abstract A method for the determination of BSP is presented which eliminates errors due to protein-binding with albumin and artifacts bilirubin, hemoglobin, turbidity. Measurements at two or three wavelengths are thereby reduced measurement one wavelength. The while simplified appears be accurate, particularly in low ranges.

Technical problems include position and screw depth. This demanding now reserved special indications.
