Cultural Heritage (CH) is recognised as being of historical, social, and anthropological value considered an enabler sustainable development. As a result, it included in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 8. SDG 11.4 emphasises protection safeguarding heritage, 8.9 aims to promote tourism that creates jobs promotes local culture products. This paper briefly reviews geoinformatics technologies photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information science their...
The recording and 3D modelling of complex archaeological sites is usually associated with high capital logistical costs, because the data acquisition must be performed by specialists using expensive surveying sensors (i.e., terrestrial laser scanners, robotic total stations and/or ground-penetrating radar). This paper presents a novel, low-cost, user-friendly photogrammetric tool for generating high-resolution scaled models sites. results obtained unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry...
Driven by progress in sensor technology, computer methods and data processing capabilities, 3D laser scanning has found a wide range of new application fields recent years. Particularly, monitoring the static dynamic behaviour large dams always been topic great importance, due to impact these structures have on whole landscape where they are built. The main goal this paper is show relevance novelty laserscanning methodology developed, which incorporates different statistical modelling...
This study presents a comparison between the use of wearable laser scanning (WLS) and terrestrial (TLS) devices for automatic tree detection with an estimation two dendrometric variables: diameter at breast height (DBH) total (TH). Operative processes data collection forest inventory are described in detail. The approach used is based on clustering points belonging to each individual tree, isolation trunks, iterative fitting circles DBH calculation computation TH tree. TLS WLS point clouds...
Mobile LiDAR System is an emerging technology that combines multiple sensors. Active sensors, together with Inertial and Global Navigation System, are synchronized on a mobile platform to produce accurate precise geospatial 3D point cloud. They allow obtaining large amount of georeferenced information in fast efficient way, which can be used several applications such as the recording reconstruction complex urban areas and/or landscapes. In this study applied field Cultural Heritage aiming...
A sustainable conservation strategy for cultural heritage protection is not feasible without a systematic documentation, registration and management of the information. The adoption integrated inspection protocols regular tracking processes, based on standardized procedures uniform criteria, are basis to successfully replace actual curative strategies with proactive approaches. opportunities brought by digital tools can offer tremendous advantages in this regard. This paper explores leading...
Abstract. Temporal analyses and multi-temporal 3D reconstruction are fundamental for the preservation maintenance of all forms Cultural Heritage (CH) basis decisions related to interventions promotion. Introducing fourth dimension time into three-dimensional geometric modelling real data allows creation a representation site. In this way, scholars from various disciplines (surveyors, geologists, archaeologists, architects, philologists, etc.) provided with new set tools working methods...
Abstract This article aims to automatically obtain the geometrical inventory of road cross‐sections (i.e., number lanes, width roadway, shoulders, superelevation) using a mobile laser scanning (MLS) system. Because large amount data captured by MLS, we have developed methodology that is based on process segmentation, classification, and extraction, which allows us determine cross‐section parameters. The was validated with real from motorways, satisfactory results were obtained in analyzed scenarios.
The use of innovative techniques such as micro‐photogrammetry and geometric morphometrics may have a major impact on the differentiation cut marks made with different raw materials and, thus, link butchering processes stone tool reduction sequences. This work focuses sample cut‐marked bones from Bell's Korongo (BK) site (Upper Bed II , Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania), which is an emblematic early Pleistocene where large faunal assemblage, including diverse megafauna, occurs in association quartzite...
Non-Melanoma skin cancer is one of the most frequent types cancer. Early detection encouraged so as to ensure best treatment, Hyperspectral imaging a promising technique for non-invasive inspection lesions, however, optimal wavelengths these purposes are yet be conclusively determined. A visible-near infrared hyperspectral camera with an ad-hoc built platform was used image acquisition in present study. Robust statistical techniques were conclude range between 573.45 and 779.88 nm...
