In this paper, we report on a preliminary study carried out for identifying patterns that characterize the genre type of Greek texts. course our study, address four distinct types, record their observable stylistic elements and indicate exploitation automatic genre-based document classi-fication. The findings demonstrate texts contain lexical features with discriminative power as far is concerned, however modeling those so they can be explored by computer-based applications still in early stages.
