Abstract Aim Routine histopathological evaluation of haemorrhoidectomy specimens is not ubiquitous amongst surgeons as its utility debatable. This the first study to assess detection rate anal squamous intraepithelial lesions (aSIL) and cell carcinoma (aSCC) in low‐ high‐risk patients. Method 9‐year retrospective assessed electronic medical records all patients who underwent excisional within an Australian tertiary referral hospital. Patients with sinister clinical examination findings were...

In this paper, fully convolutional data description (FCDD) approach is applied to the defect detection and its concurrent visualization for industrial products materials. Our developed MATLAB application has already allowed users efficiently user-friendly design, train test various kinds of neural network (NN) models detection. Supported have been originally designed newral (CNN), transfer learning-based CNN, NN-based suport vector machine (SVM), auto encoder (CAE), variational (VAE),...

Abstract Background This study compared precision of depth judgements, technical performance and workload using two-dimensional (2D) three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic displays across different viewing distances. It also the accuracy 3D with natural viewing, along relationship between stereoacuity performance. Methods A counterbalanced within-subjects design random assignment to testing sequences was used. The system could display 2D or images same set-up. Howard–Dolman apparatus assessed...

We introduce a novel, proof-of-concept polyp measurement device for the design of future colonoscopes. In simulation study, 50 expert endoscopists used three strategies (method 1: no visual cues; method 2: snare tip cue; 3: grid cue) to evaluate 120 images 40 simulated polyps (1–10 mm) presented in random order. Measurement accuracies each were 20%, 33% and 90%, respectively (p<0.001). Using 3), 99.8% accurate high confidence classifications into clinically relevant size categories....

A follow-up study was performed to determine the outcomes of all patients (five males and seven females, mean age 18.4 years) who were referred a specialist nail clinic with trachyonychia. The average number affected nails per patient 8.8 fingernails 6.2 toenails. None our tested positive for onychomycosis. Nail biopsies in two patients, revealing non-specific changes. Eight did not present or develop accompanying skin mucosal disease. Two presented alopecia areata others psoriasis. Of 50%...

BACKGROUND: The success of current and proposed strategies to reduce colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence mortality rates are fundamentally based on measurement accuracy. OBJECTIVE: aim this study was evaluate the densities polyps individually measured at colonoscopy whether bias is a systemic phenomenon among colonoscopists. DESIGN: A population-wide, observational study. SETTING: All hospitals government-funded health system in Brisbane, Australia. PATIENTS: Our investigated through...

There have been increasing reports in the literature highlighting complication of V-loc® associated small bowel obstruction patients after laparoscopic ventral rectopexy.Using clinical and experimental evidence, we demonstrate that from following rectopexy will still occur despite technical recommendations to bury or cut its barbed end flush. The risk is not negated by burying cutting flush. We proposed pathogenesis refute commonly held assumptions about prevention.

Failures in lesion detection at colonoscopy deliver imperfect protection against colorectal cancer. Minimally elevated lesions are more likely to contain high-grade dysplasia or invasive carcinoma, but frequently undetected during conventional two-dimensional (2D) colonoscopy. We performed a randomised, complete, across-subjects counterbalanced study of 3D versus 2D imaging for simulated simulation laboratory. Thirty-six gastroenterology fellows, comprising 50% the nationwide pool Australia,...

SUMMARY A 30‐year‐old man presented with eyelid dermatitis and was diagnosed occupational allergic contact to an epoxy resin based on the monomer diglycidyl ether of bisphenol F. He did not react standard A, but reacted a diluted sample taken from his workplace, adhesives manufacturing plant. The diagnosis would have been made had he brought samples work, which were patch tested after appropriate dilution. material safety data sheet provided additional evidence that A. patient's symptoms...

SUMMARY An elderly woman developed an itchy, weeping, erythematous, papular eruption, confined to the skin under her neoprene knee brace. Allergic contact dermatitis diethylthiourea and brace were diagnosed by positive patch test reactions. from thioureas may be underdiagnosed, as they are not tested part of standard series. Clinicians encouraged consider this diagnosis in patients with reactions synthetic rubber, especially neoprene.

The characteristic skin changes are asymptomatic yellow papules around the neck and in body folds giving cobblestone appearance. eyes, cardiovascular gastrointestinal systems also commonly involved.
